The Path to Glory: Nuri and Irham’s Wedding, a Story of Devotion and Love among the Al Zaytun Community Learning Center (PKBM)

By Dr. Ali Aminulloh, M.Pd.I., ME. (Lecturer at IAI Alazis – Head of PKBM Al Zaytun)

Saturday, November 29, 2025, marked a historic moment, not only for two hearts making a promise, but also for a thriving educational community. That day, Nuri Isti Sa’diah binti Suparno, an alumna of Al Zaytun’s 11th class, and Irham Rizqi Ananda bin Muhajir (the late), along with his mother, Nur Fadilah, from Brebes, celebrated their wedding.
This wedding was a tangible reflection of the close bonds of family. The event involved almost the entire PKBM Al Zaytun community, from tutors and students to those in charge. They attended not as guests, but as part of an extended family: from the host, tutor Nurdiana, to the welcoming speech from the family representative, Suwandi, S.Pd., to the reception team, photographer, cooks, and service staff. This was a party built on a spirit of togetherness and dedication.

Main Pillar: Touching Service and Advice

The most anticipated highlight was the marriage counseling session. The advice was delivered by Dr. Ali Aminulloh, M.Pd.I.ME., a lecturer at IAI Al-Azis and Head of the Community Service Center (PKBM), who represented academics’ involvement in the social arena. For Ustadz Ali, his role as a marriage counselor is part of a lecturer’s Community Service role.
Ustadz Ali opened the advice session with a rhyme that broke the tense atmosphere and was greeted with loud applause:
Go to Mecca, dress in ihram
Wet clothes, because it was raining in Mecca
Nuri and Irham burst into smiles
Because it is legal – carry out the marriage contract

After the audience said in unison “Awesome!”, Ustadz Ali quoted verse Al Isra 70, emphasizing that Allah glorified the Children of Adam. the essence of glory is to obey God, and one of the highest ways of obedience is through marriage. “The Apostle said, whoever marries a servant has perfected half of his religion. So be devout in the remaining half,” he stressed. Human glory is obtained through marriage, a sacred bond that distinguishes them from other creatures. Only humans marry, other creatures don’t.

Sakinah, Mawadah, wa Rahmah: Formulating the Three Letters of Marriage

To navigate the “household ocean,” knowledge is the key. Quoting Surah Ar-Rum 21, the purpose of marriage is to achieve Sakinah (peace, tranquility, and happiness), which is supported by Mawadah (visible love) and Rahmah (love that accepts shortcomings).
Ustadz Ali then formulated practical steps using the three letters of the word NI-KA-H:
1. N: Niyat (Intention)
Marriage must be intended for Allah, as an act of worship, following the Sunnah of the Prophet, in order to achieve blessings. Recalling the Prophet’s hadith about the four motivations for marriage (beauty, wealth, lineage, and religion), Ustadz Ali advised, “Choose for the sake of religion, then you will be protected from corruption.”
2. K: Kaifiyah (Method)
Kaifiyah begins with a marriage contract witnessed and recorded by the state, which strengthens the status of marriage. The foundation of Mawadah—the visible expression of love—requires concrete action. Ustadz Ali outlined the five love languages as a practical recipe:
* Praise: Don’t be stingy in praising your partner’s strengths.
* Togetherness (Me Time): Establishing simple times, such as eating or walking together.
* Service: Serving each other; the wife prepares, the husband helps with household chores.
* Touch: Physical expressions such as holding hands or kissing the forehead.
* Gifts: Simple, meaningful souvenirs upon returning home.
If Mawadah is concrete action, then Rahmah is the key when shortcomings arise. “Our partner’s shortcomings are the field of our worship,” he said, calling on couples to love each other for who they are.

3. H: Hurmah/Haram (Honor)

Marriage is a means of realizing honor. “The best people are those who honor their families,” he quoted. Someone who honors their partner is undoubtedly a noble person.

Peerless Pearl

With a foundation of intention, a real love, and maintaining honor, Ustadz Ali concluded that family will become a priceless treasure, a beautiful palace, a series of meaningful stories, and a precious pearl. Quoting the lyrics of the song Keluarga Cemara by BCL:
The most valuable treasure is family.
The most beautiful palace is family.
The most meaningful poetry is family.
The priceless pearl is family.

Ustadz Ali concluded his advice with a prayer full of hope, again wrapped in a rhyme.

Dirhams, from Syria
To buy tin to build a house
We pray for Irham and Nuri Sa’diah
May they be peaceful, loving and compassionate

Nuri and Irham’s wedding is not just a personal celebration. It is an affirmation that educational institutions like Al Zaytun and its Community Learning Center (PKBM) have succeeded in instilling noble values and devotion, producing alumni ready to build small civilizations—families—with knowledge, love, and honor.**
