Indramayu’s 498th Anniversary Celebrates with a Spirit of Togetherness and Innovation

INDRAMAYU-JAYA NEWS.COM – Indramayu Regency once again celebrates the spirit of togetherness and innovation in its 498th anniversary. With the theme “Safeguarding Food, Nurturing Culture, Building Prosperity,” this year’s celebration features a series of activities combining local wisdom, sports, literacy, and social services for the community.

The 498th anniversary commemoration series began in early October 2025 with the Mango Festival, a key icon of Indramayu as a leading mango-producing region in Indonesia.

Various superior mango varieties, such as Gedong Gincu, Cengkir, and Arumanis, were showcased at the festival. Not only did the festival highlight its distinctive flavors, but it also served as a platform to promote the creative economy for local farmers and MSMEs.

Equally exciting was the outpouring of people participating in the Indramayu Run 2025, a mass sporting event combining healthy spirits, sportsmanship, and a love for the region. Thousands of participants from various backgrounds ran through the beautiful coastal city with enthusiastic cheers, signaling the positive energy of the Indramayu community as they look to a more dynamic future.

In the sports arena, the 2025 Indramayu Anniversary Tennis Championship also captured public attention. This event brought together the best tennis athletes from various regions and served as a platform for developing and identifying talented talents at the regency level.

Meanwhile, in terms of education and intellectual development, the 2025 Literacy Festival aimed to foster a passion for reading and writing among the younger generation. The event included writing competitions, book reviews, and literacy discussions involving local writers and cultural activists.

The anniversary celebrations also included community-centered social activities. The Indramayu Regency Government, in collaboration with various parties, held free eye care, mass circumcisions, and mobile population administration services. These efforts demonstrated the government’s commitment to the health and basic needs of the community.

Indramayu Regent Lucky Hakim emphasized that this year’s theme serves as a reminder of the importance of maintaining a balance between economic development, cultural preservation, and public welfare.

“We want Indramayu’s anniversary to be not only a celebration, but also a moment for reflection. We need to ensure food self-sufficiency, preserve our ancestral cultural heritage, and ensure the continued improvement of public welfare,” he said.

This year’s celebration is not merely ceremonial, but rather a manifestation of the spirit of “Wiralodra Muda,” a resilient, cultured generation of Indramayu, ready to lead their region toward a prosperous and competitive future. ***
