Quality of Human Resources as a Determinant of National Progress
INDRAMAYU-JAYA NEWS.COM – Summarized from the welcoming speech for the commemoration of 1 Syuro 1447, Saturday, June 28, 2025 at the Rahmatan Lil ‘Alamin Al-Zaytun Mosque in Indramayu.
The first oration of the idea of Syaykh Al-Zaytun, was delivered by Prof. Dr. H. Wawan Wahyudin M.Pd., Chancellor of UIN Sultan Maulana Hasanuddin Banten.
“The importance of the quality of human resources as a determinant of national progress, which must begin with the quality of education, educators, curriculum, facilities and infrastructure, and regulations,” he said.
He greatly appreciates the idea of Syaykh Abdussalam Panji Gumilang and hopes that the curriculum that was initiated can be accommodated in the new national education system, by adding a “love curriculum” that emphasizes good relations with God, nature, and fellow human beings.
In his message to the students, he entrusted three “mothers” who must be respected: the biological mother, the mother of the teacher, and Mother Earth, as the foundation of character and nationality.
The next speaker, Brigadier General (ret.) Dr. Harangan Sitorus, a lecturer and practitioner of strategic education, expressed his gratitude for being able to attend Al-Zaytun and appreciated the educational concept promoted by Syaykh Panji Gumilang, especially regarding boarding school education and national defense.
He highlighted the importance of maintaining the integrity of the Republic of Indonesia which is “non-negotiable”, and emphasized that national unity is the key to strength. Sitorus also explained his experience serving in West Java and presented interesting data about the Batak tribe which has the largest number of graduates in Indonesia.
He also touched on the importance of preserving the environment and Indonesia’s maritime wealth by introducing the number of islands in Indonesia, namely 17,845 islands.
Thus, the “New Leap” that is dreamed of is not just rhetoric, but a deep calling for every element of the nation. This is an invitation to not only dream, but also dare to act, embrace innovation, and remove all obstacles for the sake of realizing inclusive, quality, and character-based education.
Hopefully the spirit of togetherness that is established in Al-Zaytun will be a trigger for further real steps, ensuring that in 2045, Indonesia will stand tall as a powerful, civilized, and inspiring nation in the eyes of the world, leaving a golden civilization for future generations.**
