FMN Yogyakarta Expresses Full Support for PBNU Syuriyah Decision Regarding Request for Chairman’s Resignation
YOGYAKARTA-JAYA NEWS.COM – The Nahdliyin Student Forum (FMN) Yogyakarta expressed its stance regarding the decision of the Daily Meeting of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PBNU), which stipulated two important points. One of these was a request for KH Yahya Cholil Staquf to resign from his position as PBNU Chairman within three days of receiving the decision.
FMN Yogyakarta General Coordinator, Tegar Pradana, emphasized that his organization fully supports the decision as a strategic step to ensure the organization’s continued adherence to the 1926 Khittah (the principles of Islam) and the values of Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah.
According to Tegar, the call for resignation should not be interpreted as a personal attack. He emphasized that this decision is actually a manifestation of love and moral responsibility for NU as the largest religious organization that carries the mandate of the people. “Reforms are part of the effort to maintain the dignity of the organization. When issues arise that affect the good name of NU, a firm stance is non-negotiable,” he said.
The Yogyakarta FMN also views the Syuriyah Council’s decision as an important step in the process of organizational improvement. Considering that several public issues have not received a firm response, this decision is seen as an effort to strengthen the leadership mechanism so that NU continues to operate according to the basic principles inherited from the founders.
“NU is our shared home. Maintaining, caring for, and protecting this great house is the obligation of all its members. Therefore, every step in improvement must be respected and supported for the future of the organization,” Tegar added, November 25, 2025.
With this stance, the Yogyakarta FMN hopes that the internal processes of the PBNU will run smoothly, transparently, and prioritize the interests of the organization and its congregation. The student organization affirms its commitment to continuously monitoring NU dynamics critically, constructively, and responsibly.
