Accelerating Adiwiyata School Candidates through Integration of Environmental Literacy Improvement and Green Open Space Revitalization
SEMARANG-JAYA NEWS.COM – The Community Service Team from the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of the University of Semarang (UNNES) held a Community Partnership Empowerment Program at SMP Negeri 25 Semarang on Wednesday, September 10, 2025. This activity aimed to strengthen environmental literacy.
The principal of SMPN 25 Semarang emphasized the school’s commitment to being part of the Adiwiyata program. Next, Prof. Dr. Sri Ngabekti, M.S., a lecturer in Environmental Science at Unnes, presented a presentation on Adiwiyata.
“The involvement of all parties is crucial in achieving Adiwiyata,” said Prof. Sri.
“Teachers play a role from planning to monitoring, while students are the main driving force in practicing environmental stewardship,” she added.
The second presentation was presented by students from the Environmental Science and Science Education Programs at the Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences (FMIPA) of Unnes.
They provided training on using Canva to create environmentally themed posters.
The students of SMPN 25 were then divided into groups to practice poster design. They presented their work to the other participants.
The Head of the Community Service Team, Rizki Nor Amelia, S.Pd., M.Pd., hopes this activity will spark SMPN 25 Semarang’s acceleration towards the Adiwiyata School designation.
“This program aligns with the Environmental Care and Culture Movement in Schools,” he said.
“With the synergy between universities, schools, and the community, this movement can foster sustainable awareness in a generation that cares about preserving the earth,” Rizki concluded.**
