PGIS Jombang Holds Joint Christmas Celebration, Calls for Stronger Inter-Church Fellowship
JOMBANG-JAYA NEWS.COM – The Local Fellowship of Churches in Indonesia (PGIS) of Jombang Regency held a joint Christmas celebration at GKJW (Gereja Kristen Jawi Wetan) Ngoro, Jombang, on Thursday (1/8/2026). The solemn event was attended by approximately 200 congregants from various PGIS member churches, pastors, and invited guests.
PGIS Jombang Chairman, Rev. Lukas Alpres Binowo, in his opening remarks expressed gratitude to all PGIS members who supported the Christmas celebration.
He explained that the event holds significant meaning in strengthening inter-church fellowship bonds in the Jombang area.
“So far, PGIS joint Christmas celebrations have usually been held at churches in the city, but going forward they will be held alternately at churches in rural areas. The spirit of togetherness is a manifestation of unity among churches in the Jombang region,” Rev. Lukas said.
Meanwhile, Chairman of the Inter-Church Consultative Body (Bamag) Jombang, Pdm. Hosea Hendrik Agustiono, who also delivered remarks, emphasized the importance of maintaining unity amid the diversity of church organizations.
“Although we consist of many church organizations, we remain united in fellowship in the Lord. Therefore, we must strengthen our brotherhood,” he said.
Hosea also invited all congregants to attend the Christmas celebration to be organized by Bamag Jombang on Tuesday (1/13/2026) at GOR Jombang as an expression of Christian unity in the regency.
The Christmas meditation was delivered by Rev. Christian Muskanan from GBI Diaspora Jombang, addressing the theme “God Comes to Save Families.”
In his sermon, Rev. Christian touched upon various natural disasters that have recently occurred in Indonesia.
He called on congregants to empathize and help disaster victims as an expression of brotherly love.
“Currently we hear a lot about natural disasters happening in Indonesia. Therefore, I hope church congregants will help and assist the victims,” he said.
Rev. Christian also emphasized the important role of family in faithful living.
“A family consists of father, mother, children, grandparents, and perhaps also uncles, aunts, and others. Jesus came as a human to provide help, comfort, and salvation for every struggle within the family,” he said.
The PGIS Jombang Christmas celebration was also enlivened by various performances from member churches. GKJW Jombang opened the program with a captivating dance performance. GBT KAO (Kristus Alfa Omega) presented melodious Christmas songs, while the host church contributed praise songs in Javanese rich with local culture.
