Demanding Improved Service and Fund Transparency, Hundreds of Majakerta Village Residents Storm Indramayu Hall
INDRAMAYU-JAYA NEWS.COM – Hundreds of residents of Majakerta Village, Balongan District, Indramayu Regency, held a demonstration in front of the Indramayu Regency Hall demanding that the Village Head (Kuwu) of Majakerta Village resign from his position, Thursday (6/19/2025).
The action was triggered by public disappointment over the poor public services in Majakerta Village, as well as the unclear management of a number of village funds and corporate social responsibility (CSR) funds from Pertamina.
In their action, residents firmly demanded that the village head and his staff be held responsible for various problems that occurred in Majakerta Village.
They also urged the local government to intervene to resolve alleged violations related to the management of village funds, MSME assistance, Village Original Income (PAD), assistance for small fishermen, Pertamina CSR funds, to the management of Village-Owned Enterprises (BUMDes) which were considered non-transparent.
“Public services in Majakerta Village are very poor and tend to be discriminatory. In addition, the management of village funds, government funds, and CSR funds from Pertamina is unclear where they are flowing,” said community leader H. Suyitno.
Residents also highlighted allegations of illegal levies (pungli) in the free electricity installation program for poor residents and the unclear management of BUMDes which has never been transparent since its establishment.
In fact, according to circulating information, the Prosecutor’s Office is said to have found indications of misuse of funds within the BUMDes.
“According to information, there have been findings from the Prosecutor’s Office regarding BUMDes funds. But until now there has been no clarity. We ask the Regency Government to immediately deactivate the problematic BUMDes management because it has been very disturbing to residents,” continued H. Suyitno.
The protesters were then received directly by the Regional Assistant (Asda) I of the Indramayu Regency Secretariat. In the audience, H. Suyitnyo accompanied by Dasuki and community representatives conveyed that the Regency Government will immediately follow up on the residents’ report by ordering the Indramayu Regency Inspectorate to conduct an inspection of Majakerta Village.
“The initial step, we will convey to the Regent to recommend that the Inspectorate go to the field. The results will later be reported to the Regent for follow-up according to the rules,” said Dasuki in front of the residents’ representatives.
However, the local government has not been able to confirm when this problem will be resolved, because it will wait for the official report of the Inspectorate’s inspection results.
The demonstrators emphasized that they would hold another demonstration with a larger number of participants if their demands were not immediately responded to.
“If there is no action, we will come down again with a larger mass,” said the residents’ representative in his closing speech.
Residents hope that the Indramayu Regency Government will be firm, fair, and transparent in responding to various problems in Majakerta Village, especially related to public services, village funds, Pertamina CSR funds, and BUMDes management for the benefit of the wider community.**
