Education is a promise for the future, and at the Al-Zaytun Community Learning Center (PKBM), that promise was reaffirmed. Eighteen students enthusiastically participated in the two-day Academic Competency Test (TKA) on Saturday and Sunday, November 8-9, 2025. Held on the second floor of the Utsman Al Zaytun Building, this event was not just an exam, but a sign of commitment to achieving equal quality and opening the door to opportunities for higher education.
TKA: Not Just an Exam, But an Assessment Reform
What exactly is TKA? TKA is a standardized assessment designed to objectively measure academic achievement. More than simply replacing the now-abolished National Examination (UN), the TKA focuses on critical thinking skills and conceptual understanding, moving away from a learning style that relies solely on memorization.
The TKA tests four core subjects—Indonesian, Mathematics, and English—plus two elective subjects: Economics and Civics. Although not mandatory, TKA results carry significant weight. Their scores can be used as selection criteria for advancement to the next level, such as through the SNBP (National Selection Based on Achievement) pathway. They also serve as a tool to equalize learning outcomes across formal, non-formal, and informal education pathways. This is clear evidence that equivalency education is of equal quality and competitive.

Two Focused Days at the Utsman Building
The TKA implementation at the Zaytun Community Learning Center (PKBM) ran smoothly and successfully, thanks to the excellent coordination of the implementation team. The entire process was closely supervised by Mr. Syarifudin, a cross-supervisor from the Wiyatamandala Gantar Community Learning Center (PKBM), supported by the Proctor, Mr. Arie Alamsyah, S.Si., MP; The technician, Mr. Jalaluddin, S.Ag.; and the operator, Mr. Abdul Karim, S.Mn., M.Pd., were present. The presence of the PKBM Director, Dr. Ali Aminulloh, M.Pd., M.E., and the tutors provided invaluable encouragement and moral support.
The first day began at 7:00 a.m. with a solemn agenda: singing the Indonesian national anthem and reciting the Sapta Janji Darmabakti. After instructions from the PKBM Head, the 18 Community Learning Participants faced Indonesian, Mathematics, and English problems until 10:00 a.m.
The second day was no less intense. Beginning with a similar opening, the participants then completed challenges in their elective subjects, Civics and Economics, until 9:20 a.m. The entire process demonstrated the Community Learning Participants’ extraordinary seriousness and focus, a reflection of their determination to achieve the best education.
Profound Message: Achieving Equality, Beyond Limits
The Academic Competency Test at Al Zaytun Community Learning Center (PKBM) was successfully implemented, becoming a golden opportunity for the PKBM Zaytun Learners. This success is the result of collaboration, dedication, and an unyielding spirit from every individual involved, from the leaders and tutors to the Learners themselves.
Inspirational Message:
Equivalency education is not about catching up, but about rekindling postponed dreams and proving that quality knows no boundaries. Through this TKA, you have demonstrated that determination and hard work always produce equal, or even greater, results. Remember, the results of this test are a map, not destiny. Keep learning, keep creating, because every diploma you earn is a key to unlocking the door to unlimited opportunities. Be an inspiration that second chances at learning are always available to persistent souls.**
