Indramayu Klanceng Beekeepers Complain About Their Fate to Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka

NEWS.COM — Hundreds of victims of fraudulent investment by PT Mahakarya Berkah Madani (PT MBM) from various regions, including Indramayu Regency, are urging law enforcement officers to immediately investigate the alleged fraud case under the guise of a klanceng beekeeping partnership run by the company.
In a meeting held at the home of the APLI Indramayu management, in Sukasari Village, Arahan District, the victims directly conveyed their complaints and hopes to Dudung Badrun, SH., MH., who has now been appointed as the attorney for APLI (Indonesian Bee Entrepreneurs Association) to handle this case.
PT MBM, which claims to be engaged in breeding klanceng bees that produce honey, sells partnership packages in the form of one stup unit (bee cage container) for IDR 1.2 million. Partners are promised profits of up to IDR 400 thousand every four months from the honey harvest. However, since operating in 2019, the partnership scheme has actually harmed the partners. There has never been any transparency regarding the amount of harvest or the source of the profit-sharing funds.
APLI recorded that around 28,000 partners throughout Indonesia became victims, with total losses reaching IDR 765 billion. Specifically in Indramayu Regency alone, there were more than 600 victims with total losses reaching IDR 40 billion. The average loss per person reached IDR 60 million to hundreds of millions.
As a result of this case, a number of victims experienced severe pressure, were in debt to the bank, sold their houses, mortgaged their rice fields, got divorced, and some even chose to become migrant workers and committed suicide. “Many victims pawned their belongings and even borrowed money from the bank to join PT MBM. Now they don’t know what to do,” said H. Wahidin, Chairman of APLI.
APLI has made various efforts, including an audience with Commission III of the DPR and the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police. In fact, last April, the report of this case was received by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia at the Vice President’s Palace. The government is also committed to following up on this report through the relevant agencies.
“The cooperation promised by PT MBM is just a formality. There has never been any training or coaching for partners. This clearly leads to fraud, and we will demand the return of the victims’ funds,” said Dudung Badrun, who will lead APLI’s legal efforts
APLI invites all victims to unite in the legal struggle and hopes that the Government and law enforcement officers will act firmly so that similar cases do not happen again in the future.
