Prof. Dr. Sutan Nasomal: Purbaya Must Have the Courage to Cut the Current System’s Tangled Threads

JAKARTA-JAYA NEWS.COM – It is absolutely right that the Ministry of Finance is making breakthroughs for the people’s economic progress through soft credit assistance for low- and middle-income economic actors who have been neglected by the government.

This was stated by Prof. Dr. KH. Sutan Nasomal, an international law expert and national economist, in response to questions from the editors-in-chief of the national online printing press at his office at the headquarters of the opposition Merdeka Party in Jakarta, Friday (11/14/2025).

Indonesia is great because it is supported by a healthy economy. This is a current issue that Mr. Purbaya must address as a minister.

Prof. Sutan Nasomal told the media, “Banks have money but don’t dare to open channels for projects. There are projects but no funding. Yet, tens of millions of people are waiting for the Indonesian government to be brave enough to encourage economic progress from the micro to the macro level. There are millions of MSMEs capable of working to build a healthy economy.”

“Mr. Purbaya must summon all bank executives. Don’t refuse credit to small businesses or make it difficult for them. Why do banks only embrace large businesses and provide billion-dollar loans, even though they are often in default and lack discipline?” said Prof. Sutan.

“Will Mr. Purbaya be willing to cut the tangled threads in the current system? This is what the wider public has been waiting for?” he asked.

The tangled threads that have led to cases that harm the state are supported by certain government officials who are playing a double-edged sword. This is no longer a secret. For example, Purbaya’s recent surprise inspection of the Tanjung Perak Customs Office in Surabaya revealed:
Many abnormal things were found, indicating weak oversight.

Not to mention the flood of goods from abroad with abnormal values when traced. This has had a devastating impact on Indonesia’s national industrial areas.
Many factories have closed and relocated to other countries. Ultimately, layoffs are widespread, and this reality is very painful.

Millions of people are starving due to the tangled threads in this unhealthy system.

After the current economic chaos, those playing double-edged swords in many sectors must be eliminated. This tangled system must be cut. Unscrupulous government officials and regional heads must be arrested.

This is so that a healthy system can be reformed and work properly. This healthy system can continue to function and the common people can be helped.

“Don’t look for things that have already been lost. Create new ones to boost the people’s economic strength, and law enforcement must be strict,” he said.

Time has shown that the current global economic conditions are unhealthy. Only the government and society can build a healthy system that can remain strong amidst the competitive trade war.**
