Polindra’s Water Filtration Device Receives a Simple Patent
INDRAMAYU-JAYA NEWS.COM – Indramayu State Polytechnic has successfully created an improved water filtration device, which has been granted a simple patent by the Ministry of Law and Human Rights.
Leo Van Gunawan, M.T., Coordinator of the Mechanical Engineering Diploma 3 Research and Community Service Team, explained to the media on Thursday, October 9, 2025, that Indramayu State Polytechnic has successfully created an improved water filtration device, and has received a simple patent.
This water filtration device functions to purify and filter water so that it can be used for drinking, cooking, bathing, ablution, and other purposes. The water has been tested in West Java and is of class one quality. Its capacity can be used for 1,000 liters of water.
“It is very useful for communities far from the water utility,” he said.
The materials are also very simple, utilizing waste found around Indramayu, such as rice husks and coconut shell carbon.
Leo added that the Indramayu State Polytechnic has donated this Water Filtration Device to an Islamic boarding school in the Jatibarang area.
In creating this Water Filtration Device, our PKM Team was assisted by two students from the Mechanical Engineering Diploma 3 program, Ceba Muhammad Ar Rasyid and Abdul Rohmat. This is the result of research by us, the team of lecturers, and students, resulting in the creation of this Water Filtration Device.
We hope that the Indramayu State Polytechnic will successfully create this Water Filtration Device, which will be very beneficial for the community, especially Indramayu Regency and the surrounding areas.
The community can also create a patent for this Water Filtration Device using waste materials that are easily found around Indramayu, as rice husk waste and coconut shell carbon can be an alternative solution for water purification and filtration.**
