Minister of Social Affairs Promotes Inclusive Education in Indramayu Through Integrated Elementary Schools

Indramayu Jaya News – Indonesian Minister of Social Affairs Saifullah Yusuf and Indramayu Regent Lucky Hakim confirmed that 40 Integrated Elementary Schools in Indramayu, West Java, will begin operating at the end of this month.

This program is intended to accommodate children from underprivileged families, including those who have dropped out of school, as part of the government’s efforts to increase access to quality education in rural areas.

“This is one of 60 locations that will be operational this September. So, preparations are underway,” said Saifullah Yusuf after a dialogue with prospective students at the Indramayu Vocational Training Center (BLK) on Monday, September 29, 2025.

This statement affirmed the Ministry of Social Affairs’ commitment to accelerating the implementation of inclusive education programs in various regions. According to the Minister of Social Affairs, the initial phase of the program will accommodate 100 prospective students.

The school comprises 50 elementary school (SD) students and 50 junior high school (SMP) students, with priority given to children from poor families who have never received formal education or have dropped out.

The school’s temporary location is the Indramayu Vocational Training Center (BLK), which has been deemed suitable by the Ministry of Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR). This facility is deemed capable of supporting teaching and learning activities until the permanent building is completed.

Saifullah Yusuf explained that construction of the permanent school building will begin this year. Therefore, the new facility is expected to be ready to accommodate students by the 2026 academic year, allowing for the program’s expansion to more children.

“Hopefully, everything will run smoothly. We’ll see how the children and their teachers become familiar with the school environment,” said the Minister of Social Affairs, emphasizing the importance of early adaptation for students and teachers to ensure smooth operations.
