UEM and RSKM Launch Clinical Pastoral Education Training to Enhance Professional Pastoral Care

MOJOWARNO-JAYA NEWS.CIM – The United Evangelical Mission (UEM) and Mojowarno Christian Hospital (RSKM) have officially launched a Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) training program running from September 23 to November 28, 2025. The program brings together 11 participants sent by various churches and hospitals.

The opening ceremony took place on Wednesday, September 24, 2025, attended by participants and the hospital’s leadership.

In his opening remarks, Rev. Joko Hadi Wibowo of the East Java Christian Church (GKJW) expressed hope that participants would benefit fully from the training.

“We hope this program equips participants with a solid foundation for carrying out their pastoral duties,” he said.

RSKM Director Dr. Heri Wibowo, M.Kes., voiced strong support for the initiative, emphasizing the importance of participants’ health during the program.

“We expect all participants to remain healthy and absorb the materials to the fullest,” he noted. Demonstrating its commitment, RSKM has assigned three of its employees to join the training, underscoring the hospital’s dedication to strengthening pastoral services for patients and families.

Facilitator Rev. Nursini Sihombing, M.Th., highlighted changes in the program’s funding model.

“Previously, the training was fully financed by UEM. Now, UEM provides facilitator support while other costs are borne by participants or their sending institutions,” she explained. Despite this shift, she affirmed the program’s continued adherence to international standards in clinical pastoral education.

The CPE program aims to help participants apply their training to deliver professional pastoral care in their respective institutions.

Designed to develop skills in providing comprehensive spiritual support to patients, families, and medical staff, the program combines theory with practical learning.
As part of the opening agenda, participants toured RSKM to familiarize themselves with the hospital’s facilities and environment, which will serve as their learning ground for the next two months. The orientation offered contextual insights into the healthcare setting where they will practice pastoral care.
The Clinical Pastoral Education program at RSKM is expected to produce competent, professional pastoral caregivers capable of delivering high-quality spiritual support within modern healthcare contexts.**
