A Study of Metaphors in Expressing Good and Bad Behavior in the Web Series “Tilik” Leads to a Journal Publication

Wahyu Agung Prasetyo’s web series “Tilik” has become a fascinating research topic for linguists. This prompted Sri Indah Lestari to delve deeper into the phenomenon of good and bad metaphors in the web series. This study aims to describe the types of metaphors, sources of reference, and targets of reference used in expressing good and bad behavior in the web series.

According to Nur Fateah, the supervising lecturer, this study employed a qualitative descriptive method, collecting data using the “lihat takat” (listening and noting) technique from the WeTv app. Analysis was conducted to identify the types of metaphors, sources of reference, and targets of reference.

*Research Findings*

This research finding reveals the types of metaphors according to Kerbrat Orecchiomi: explicit metaphors (in praesentia) and implicit metaphors (in absentia). Explicit metaphors are those that convey explicit meaning, while implicit metaphors are those that contain implied meaning and require deeper interpretation.

*Metaphor Analysis*

After being classified into metaphor types, phrases containing metaphors were analyzed through their source domain and target domain. The results of the study indicate that the metaphor of expressing good and bad behavior in the web series Tilik has an interpretation used to convey the speaker’s intent to the interlocutor.

*Research Implications*

The implication of this research for the study of cognitive semantics is to broaden the understanding of language meaning. The study of cognitive semantics helps understand the formation of language meaning as it is processed through the human mind.

Therefore, this research can contribute to the understanding of Javanese language and culture, as well as enrich the study of cognitive semantics. Language enthusiasts can explore the research results in more detail at https://jurnal.usk.ac.id/riwayat/article/view/48841.
Language researchers can cite this research to enrich the repertoire of linguistic research.**
