The GMRI (Indonesian Moral Reconciliation Movement) regular discussion held every Monday and Thursday at the Secretariat on Jl. Ir. H. Juanda No. 4A, Central Jakarta, on September 8, 2025, discussed various issues that had emerged over the past week in Indonesia, including the reshuffle of President Prabowo Subianto’s Red and White Cabinet, which was announced directly from the Merdeka Palace in Jakarta.
The President’s cabinet reshuffle on the same day, September 8, 2025, is believed to be part of an ongoing phase of purging to eliminate all “passengers” who would disrupt the Red and White Cabinet’s performance, which must move quickly to improve the national economic conditions that are increasingly placing a heavy burden on the people.
In a discussion with Indonesian Spiritual Guardian Sri Eko Sriyanto Galgendu, Joyo Yudhantoro, a democracy activist and advocate, and Ibrahim Aji, an activist and journalist, the names of several ministers reshuffled by President Prabowo Subianto were discussed. Among them, Minister of Finance Sri Mulyani Indrawati was immediately replaced by Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, who previously served as Chair of the Board of Commissioners of the Deposit Insurance Corporation (LPS) since 2020. Prior to that, from 2018 to 2020, he served as Deputy for Maritime Sovereignty and Energy Coordination at the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment.
State Secretary Prasetyo Hadi explained that the decision was the result of an evaluation conducted by the President to fully organize the cabinet formation to ensure the best possible governance, ensuring a unified and focused administration aimed at improving and enhancing the welfare of the people.
Other cabinet reshuffles included Coordinating Minister for Political and Security Affairs Budi Gunawan, Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers (P2MI) Abdul Kadir Karding, Minister of Cooperatives Budi Arie Setiadi, and Minister of Youth and Sports Dito Ariotedjo.
This reshuffle marked a new chapter in President Prabowo Subianto’s administration, which continues to reform, appointing Minister of Finance Purbaya Yudhi Sadewa, Minister for the Protection of Indonesian Migrant Workers Mukhtarudin, Minister of Cooperatives Ferry Juliantono, Minister of Hajj and Umrah Mochamad Irfan Yusuf, and Deputy Minister of Hajj and Umrah Dahnil Anzar Simanjuntak.
This reshuffle demonstrates President Prabowo Subianto’s serious commitment to continuous improvement, especially regarding members of his cabinet who are already beset by problems. They are often seen as “proxy” for the ruling regime, which seeks to create chaos and use it as an excuse to transition power.**
