Gol A Gong’s Rumah Dunia (World House) Will Break the Record of 10,000 Indonesian Mini-Fictions
JAKARTA-JAYA NEWS COM – Heri Hendrayana Haris, the founder and driving force behind the Literacy Community, known as “Gol A Gong,” actively organizes writing workshops, literacy festivals, and promotes a national literacy movement in Indonesia. Through Rumah Dunia (World House), he plans to break the world record by collecting 10,000 mini-fictions. He invites young writers across the country to participate in writing the best mini-fiction works, with a total prize of IDR 10 million for selected works, all of which will be compiled into one book.
According to a release received by Gol A Gong, the organizer of this mini-fiction writing competition, in collaboration with SIP Publishing and Duta Baca Indonesia, and fully supported by the National Library of Indonesia and MURI (Indonesian Museum of World Records), the Indonesian Museum of Records (MURI) is aiming to include 10,000 mini-fiction works. However, it is unclear whether each participant may submit more than one work.
The Rumah Indonesia Menulis Foundation (Indonesian House of Writing Foundation) is an organization focused on developing literacy in the field of creative writing in Indonesia. It includes writing short stories, poetry, novels, and mini-fiction, as well as providing book publishing support. The goal is to foster a culture of writing within the community, particularly among the younger generation, who utilize literacy as a means of strengthening character and fostering creativity in their work.
The schedule for writing mini fiction organized by Gol A Gong, registration is open from 21 June – 19 July 2025 (today) and the implementation committee can receive manuscripts no later than 5 August 2025, and manuscript curation will be carried out on 6 – 20 August 2025.
“Meanwhile, the publication of the mini fiction book will be carried out on August 21 2025. Until the book launch and announcement and awarding of prizes for the 15 best works can be done on September 15 2025 to coincide with visiting day for the National Library in the Auditorium of the National Library of Indonesia Building, Central Jakarta,” explained Heri, in a press statement, Saturday 19 July 2025.
Apart from that, continued Heri, the committee will give certificates of appreciation to the 200 best scriptwriters as well as certificates for participants in breaking the MURI record. According to the organizing committee, each participant can send a maximum of 3 titles of mini fiction works with a manuscript length of between 250 – 500 words for one event, one location and one time.
Each work is expected to be surprising or have a plot twist. Entries can be submitted via email to gongtravelling@gmail.com with the subject line “fiksimini” along with a bio-narrative of up to 5 sentences, a self-portrait, and any necessary supporting illustrations.

“This is a provocation from the organizers. Don’t miss this opportunity to be part of Indonesian literacy history,” he advised. However, only manuscripts that meet certain criteria will be curated and included in the anthology of mini-fiction. Of the 10,000 mini-fiction works—if each work is on average one page—the thickness of the collection will be the same as a pillow. This also means that if you have to carry it around, you need a special, sturdy backpack, like the quality of a military backpack.**
