The Ascension of Jesus Christ: Meaning, Hope and Promise
JOMBANG-JAYA NEWS.COM – The event of the ascension of Jesus Christ to heaven is one of the important moments in Christian teachings that marks the end of His physical ministry in the world. After His resurrection from the dead, Jesus appeared to the disciples and gave them a mandate to be His witnesses to the whole world (Acts 1:8).
This was stated by Evangelist Lukius Juliandri, in his statement to Jaya-News.Com, Thursday afternoon, May 29, 2025.
Ev.Lukius continued, this Ascension contains several deep theological meanings for Christians:
Completion of the Mission in the World
The ascension of Jesus shows that His task and work in the world have been completed. In the Gospel of John 17:4, Jesus said that He had completed the work that God the Father had given Him.
Assurance of a Place in Heaven
In John 14:2-3, Jesus promises that He will prepare a place for His followers and will one day return to take them to Him. This promise is a source of hope for eternal life.
The Sending of the Holy Spirit
Jesus’ ascension paved the way for the presence of the Holy Spirit. In John 15:26, Jesus states that He will send the Helper, the Holy Spirit, to accompany and guide His people in their daily lives and to empower them to be His witnesses.
Acts 1:9-11 records that Jesus was taken up into heaven as witnessed by His disciples, and two angels announced that Jesus would return in the same manner as He ascended into heaven.
The event of Jesus’ ascension is seen as a spiritual victory that gives hope and confidence to Christians. It is a reminder that the journey of faith does not stop in this world, but rather leads to the fulfillment of God’s promises.
“As believers, this event invites us to live in faith, hope, and readiness to await His return,” said Ev. Lukius closing the discussion with Journalist Jaya-News.Com.***
