Bojongsari Community Fisheries Monitoring Group Holds Water Monitoring Activities to Maintain Aquatic Ecosystem Sustainability

INDRAMAYU-JAYANEWS.COM – The Bojongsari Community Fisheries Monitoring Group (Pokmaswas Mitra Bojongsari) held water monitoring activities in the river basin area up to the Indramayu estuary on Sunday, July 5, 2026. This activity was carried out as an effort to maintain the sustainability of the aquatic ecosystem and prevent various forms of violations in public waters.

The monitoring activities, which took place this week, involved Pokmaswas members, community leaders, and local youth. The main targets of the monitoring included monitoring the use of environmentally unfriendly fishing gear, waste disposal into water bodies, and data collection on fishing activities in the surrounding area.

The Head of Pokmaswas Mitra Bojongsari, Sukman, stated that the role of communities surrounding waters is crucial in maintaining the sustainability of aquatic resources.

“We went directly to the field to ensure the waters remain clean and the ecosystem is maintained. If the water is healthy, fish and other biota can thrive. This is for the future sustainability of fishermen and the community,” he said.

In addition to monitoring, this activity also included outreach to local residents about the importance of not throwing trash into the river and not using hazardous materials when fishing.

Residents welcomed the activity. They hope similar activities can be held regularly to further raise awareness of protecting the aquatic environment.

One local fisherman, who declined to be named, said, “Activities like this can deter those who engage in illegal fishing in the river.”

The Bojongsari Mitra Community Watch Group (Pokmaswas) is committed to continuing to coordinate with the village government, relevant agencies, and authorities to follow up on findings in the field to achieve sustainable waters.
