Rp 200 Billion Budget “Floats” in the Governor’s Hands, Indramayu Sports Center Revitalization Officially Failed!

The ambitious Rp 200 billion Sports Center revitalization project was officially scrapped by the Governor of West Java in his latest Regional Budget (APBD) evaluation. This bitter decision left the Indramayu Regency Government scratching its head, as the massive budget was deemed non-urgent and should be diverted to previously neglected basic services.
Haji Ruswa, a member of Commission III of the Indramayu Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD), revealed that the funds had initially been “secured” in the 2026 Draft Regional Budget (RAPBD). However, the Governor instead gave the item a negative rating because it was deemed a lower priority than the people’s livelihoods and basic infrastructure.
“In short, it was crossed out. The evaluation results required the budget to be prioritized for mandatory spending on basic services, so the revitalization was automatically cancelled completely,” Ruswa emphasized to the media at the PKS Regional Leadership Council (DPTD) Building on Monday, January 5, 2026.
Now, the hundreds of billions of rupiah in funds have been diverted to patching damaged roads and installing streetlights to reduce the high crime rate, such as muggings that plague residents.
The failure of this project immediately sparked a wave of disappointment, especially among vendors who felt they had only been given “false hope.”
The Chairperson of the Sport Center Vendors, Nurbaeti, expressed her anger at having exhausted herself by collecting data on vendors with promises of economic improvement after the revitalization.
Similarly, Kang Supardi, a vendor advisor, demanded that the government not shirk its responsibilities; he urged that “dead” public facilities such as lighting, toilets, and prayer rooms be independently repaired if the Rp 200 billion in funds had indeed disappeared from the development agenda.***
