Indramayu Regent Regulation Number 4 of 2017 Becomes a Shield for Village Heads from Committing Corruption and Criminal Offenses

Village Heads are state officials as regulated in Law No. 6 of 2014.
This law prohibits Village Heads from engaging in corruption, collusion, and nepotism, and from accepting money, goods, and/or services from other parties that could influence their decisions or actions. (Article 29 letter f of Law No. 6 of 2014).
Indramayu is indeed different from other regions. Village heads in Indramayu receive protection and/or are allowed to engage in actions prohibited by Article 29 letter f of Law Number 6 of 2014.
This legal protection is regulated in Article 39 of Indramayu Regent Regulation Number 4 of 2017 concerning Village Government, which only imposes administrative sanctions in the form of verbal and/or written warnings.
If these warnings are not complied with, they are subject to temporary suspension and can be followed up with dismissal.
Indramayu Village heads are dependent on the Regent, who can pursue legal action or other charges if they disagree with the Regent.
Regent Regulation Number 4 of 2017 was exploited by Indramayu Regent Lucky Hakim, as experienced by the Village Head of Kedokan Agung and possibly other Village Heads.**
