Unpad Community Service Program Dance Goes Viral in Indramayu, Village Youth Challenge Students to Present Real Programs
INDRAMAYU-JAYA NEWS.COM – Social media has recently been abuzz with content from Padjadjaran University (Unpad) Community Service Program (KKN) students who are currently serving in several villages in Indramayu Regency. However, instead of showcasing work programs and community empowerment activities, some of the viral content is dominated by TikTok and Instagram-style dances, Thursday (January 15, 2026).
This phenomenon has drawn attention from Hilmi Hilmansyah, a young village activist in Indramayu Regency and owner of Urban Creative Hub. He believes that KKN should be a platform for actualizing ideas, innovations, and concrete solutions for villages, not just a form of entertainment on social media.
“Dancing is fine, but it shouldn’t overshadow the essence of KKN. Villages need ideas, programs, and real impact,” said Hilmi.
In response to this phenomenon, Hilmi issued an open challenge to Unpad Community Service Program (KKN) students currently serving in Indramayu. The challenge invited students to design the best and most applicable work program for the village, then present it in the form of a creative poster.
The posters were required to be published on each participant’s TikTok or Instagram account, tagging Hilmi Hilmansyah’s account. The work deemed most engaging, realistic, and with the potential for impact would be selected to advance to the next stage.
The 10 best posters would be invited to present their ideas in person at the Urban Creative Hub office located at Jalan Olahraga Number 21 (Cinde FM), Indramayu Sports Center.
Furthermore, from the 10 finalists, three posters would be selected to receive prizes totaling millions of rupiah, plus free coffee, discussions, and opportunities for further collaboration.
Hilmi hopes this challenge will shift the trend of KKN from simply chasing virality to activities that are valuable and impactful for the village.
“If a cool village program can go viral, why not? We’re waiting for bold, solution-oriented, and down-to-earth ideas from our KKN students,” he emphasized.
This challenge also serves as a message that KKN isn’t just about social media presence, but also about leaving a legacy of ideas and real change for the village.**
