Mojowarno Christian Hospital Holds Closing Ceremony for 2025 Clinical Pastoral Education Program
JOMBANG-JAYA NEWS.COM – Mojowarno Christian Hospital held the closing ceremony for its 2025 Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program at the Dr. Soejadmoko Building on Wednesday (Nov. 26, 2025). The two-month program was attended by 10 participants and one observer.
The CPE participants came from various backgrounds, including pastors, healthcare workers, hospital pastoral staff, and deaconesses. The program is the result of collaboration between the United Evangelical Mission (UEM), headquartered in Germany, and several church synods in Indonesia.
CPE Supervisor Rev. Dr. Nursini Sihombing, M.Th., explained that the CPE program was first implemented in 1925 at Worcester State Hospital, Massachusetts, United States. The program was initiated by Anton Boisen to train theology students in mental health services.
“CPE education at Mojowarno Christian Hospital has been running since 2011 with international standards,” Nursini said.
She added that the program involves cooperation with several church synods including GKJW, GKPA, GKPI, GKE, HKBP, and other synods. One quarter of CPE education requires 400 hours.
Mojowarno Christian Hospital Director dr. Heri Wibowo, M.Kes., expressed appreciation for the trust given to the hospital.
“We hope participants can apply the results of this education in their respective service locations,” he said.
One participant, Rev. Sebnopiana Silitonga, S.Th., acknowledged that CPE education was very helpful in providing pastoral care services.
“We were trained in self-awareness, emotional management, handling terminally ill patients, and preparing scientific reports,” she said.
Another participant, dr. Ardi Driputra Adji, who was sent by Mojowarno Christian Hospital, stated that the program provided insights into holistic care.
“In treating patients, we must pay attention to psychological and spiritual aspects, not just physical treatment. This program needs to be continued,” he said.
The event concluded with the presentation of graduation certificates to all participants by the supervisor and the director of Mojowarno Christian Hospital.***
