PADANG-JAYA NEWS.COM – The Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) of Andalas University (Unand) in Padang, West Sumatra Province, is ready to collaborate and support the Fourth International Minangkabau Literacy Festival (IMLF-4), which will be held in Bukittinggi in early June 2026.

As a state university specializing in developing cultural studies in West Sumatra Province, it has the human resources (HR) to contribute ideas, both from faculty and students.

This was stated by the Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) of Andalas University (Unand) in Padang, Prof. Dr. Ike Revita, S.Sos., M.Hum., during a meeting with IMLF-4 Chair Sastri Bakry and the IMLF committee in his office in Padang City, West Sumatra Province, on Tuesday (11/18/2025).

Ike Revita was accompanied by Vice Dean I Zulprianto, S.S., M.A., Ph.D., Dean II Alex Darmawan, S.S., M.A., and Manager Ria Febrina.

Meanwhile, Sastri Bakry was accompanied by IMLF-4 Secretary Armaidi Tanjung, Vice Chair Soni Drestiana, and the person in charge of theater performances, Dr. Sastra Munarfi.
Ike Revita stated that she was only inaugurated three months ago and is currently continuing to improve herself to provide greater benefits to the community.

“That’s why we frequently meet with the vice deans and other academics to make improvements and discuss future activities,” she said.

“With the offer from IMLF-4 to participate in this prestigious international event, it is a source of joy and pride for FIB Unand Padang. Collaborating with IMLF-4 is a source of pride,” she added.

We are ready to embrace the new paradigm, providing maximum support, despite the old paradigm’s shortcomings.

Sastri Bakry, Chair of IMLF-4, who is also the Chair of the SatuPena West Sumatra Regional Leadership Council (DPD), expressed his gratitude to the Dean of the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) at Unand and staff for their hospitality.

He also expressed his gratitude for their collaboration and contributions to the success of IMLF-4, which will be held in early June 2026.

“FIB Unand’s contribution, both as a resource person at the main seminar and parallel seminars, and as a moderator at the seminar, will feature speakers and participants from IMLF-4 delegations, which are targeted to come from 30 countries next year. At IMLF-3 in May 2025, delegates came from 24 countries, and the fourth IMLF is planned for 30 countries,” said Sastri Bakry.

Sastri also offered opportunities for FIB Unand students to volunteer as volunteers, with the primary requirement being English language skills, as they will be serving delegates from various countries.

“Volunteers will be selected according to the required standards,” he concluded.

At IMLF-3, two students from Unand applied and were selected; one student withdrew due to scheduling conflicts with other student activities.

In addition to the IMLF-4 main event in early June 2026, pre-IMLF-4 activities will be held prior to that event.

These activities could include closed-door discussions, book reviews and discussions, writing activities, and other activities. The Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) at Unand could also play a role in this pre-IMLF-4 event, either as a resource person/speaker or moderator.

Both Ike Revita and Sastri Bakry agreed to further collaborate through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to ensure the continuity of future activities for both parties. The meeting concluded with a group photo. (***)
