Statement from the Chairperson of the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Branch of Indramayu Regency : Indramayu Regent Regulation Number 42 Concerning Islamic Boarding School Facilitation

Statement from the Chairperson of the Nahdlatul Ulama (NU) Branch of Indramayu Regency

Responding to the Stipulation of Regent Regulation Number 42 of 2025 Concerning Islamic Boarding School Facilitation

In the name of the Indramayu Regency Nahdlatul Ulama (PCNU) Branch, we express our highest appreciation to the Indramayu Regency Government, especially Regent Lucky Hakim, for the issuance of Regent Regulation Number 42 of 2025, a derivative of Regional Regulation Number 2 of 2002 concerning Islamic Boarding School Facilitation.

This step is a breath of fresh air for the Islamic boarding school world in Indramayu, as well as a concrete manifestation of the state’s presence within this religious institution, which has long been a stronghold of morality, scholarship, and nationalism in the community.

The Chairman of the Nahdlatul Ulama Executive Board (PCNU) believes that this formal recognition of Islamic boarding schools is not merely administrative, but rather strengthens their strategic role in developing a generation with morals, independence, and love for their homeland. With this Regent’s Regulation, it is hoped that Islamic boarding schools will receive equal rights in education, teacher welfare, and support for facilities and infrastructure.

We also encourage the implementation of this Regent’s Regulation to be participatory, involving religious organizations, kiai (Islamic scholars), and Islamic boarding school forums, so that this policy truly addresses real needs on the ground.

As the home of ulama and santri (Islamic students), NU will continue to oversee the implementation of this Regent’s Regulation to ensure it remains aligned with the welfare of the community, upholds the values of Ahlussunnah wal Jamaah, and strengthens the contribution of Islamic boarding schools to the progress of Indramayu Regency.

Hopefully, this step will become a momentum for the revival of Indramayu’s Islamic boarding schools towards independence and the nobility of knowledge, good deeds, and morals.

Indramayu, October 25, 2025
On behalf of the Nahdlatul Ulama Branch Management (PCNU) of Indramayu Regency

KH. M. Mustofa
Chairman of PCNU of Indramayu Regency
