Commander of the I/BB Military Region Attends Trail of the Kings 2025 in Samosir, Supporting International Tourism Event
SAMOSIR-JAYA NEWS COM — Commander of the I/Bukit Barisan Military Region (I/BB), Major General Rio Firdianto, attended the Trail of the Kings™ – Lake Toba by UTMB® event held at the Mariana Resort, Tuktuk Ring Road, Tuktuk Siadong Village, Simanindo District, Samosir Regency, North Sumatra, early Saturday (10/19/2025).
The event, held from October 17–19, 2025, on Samosir Island, marked a historic moment that placed Lake Toba on the global trail running map and showcased Indonesia’s sports tourism to the international community. A total of 1,200 runners from 27 countries competed in various categories, from the 100K to the student category.
North Sumatra Governor Bobby Afif Nasution stated that Trail of the Kings™ – Lake Toba by UTMB® is part of the UTMB® World Series and serves as a platform to strengthen North Sumatra’s image as an international sports tourism destination. He believes this event also has a positive economic impact on the local community in the accommodation, culinary, and transportation sectors.
Commander of the I/BB Military Command, Major General Rio Firdianto, expressed his appreciation for the event. “Trail of the Kings is not only a sporting event, but also a momentum to introduce the beauty of Lake Toba to the world. The I/Bukit Barisan Military Command fully supports any positive activity that can elevate the image of North Sumatra and strengthen the community’s sense of pride in their region,” he said.
Present at the event were the Assistant Commander of the I/BB Military Command, the Assistant for Intelligence of the I/BB Military Command, the Assistant for Operations of the I/BB Military Command, the Head of the North Sumatra Tourism Office, the Regent of Samosir, the Chief of the Samosir Police, the Director of Tourism Marketing, and the Commander of the 0210/TT Military District Command.**
