INDRAMAYU-JAYA NEWS.COM – Gilang Supardiyansah, a talented young judo athlete from Sayid Sabiq Vocational School in Indramayu, was selected on Friday, September 19, 2025, to represent Indramayu Regency in the 14th West Java Regional Student Sports Week (Popda).

Gilang’s participation is the result of his hard work and dedication to training during his studies at Sayid Sabiq Vocational School in Indramayu. With a strong fighting spirit, Gilang is ready to face challenges at the provincial level.

According to Gilang, he has had a strong interest in sports since childhood. He began practicing judo as an extracurricular activity at Sayid Sabiq Vocational School in Indramayu.

Thanks to the guidance of experienced coaches, Gilang’s judo skills have developed rapidly. Gilang admitted that judo is not just a sport, but also teaches the values ​​of discipline and hard work.

Meanwhile, Imam Tantowi, the Judo Dojo Coach at Sayid Sabiq Vocational School in Indramayu, is confident and optimistic that Gilang can win the West Java Popda Championship.

“Gilang is one of our best athletes. We, the Indramayu Regency Judo Branch Management, went through a lengthy selection process. We hope Gilang can become a champion and bring honor to the school and Indramayu Regency,” said Imam.

The Principal of Sayid Sabiq Vocational School in Indramayu, Silvy Ima Khumaeroh, was very proud of Gilang’s achievement. She stated that this achievement not only brings honor to the school but also inspires other students to excel in their respective fields. “We will continue to support extracurricular activities like Judo so that more students can excel,” he added.

In preparation for Popda, Gilang undergoes intensive daily training. He trains at school and also participates in training sessions with other Judo athletes at the Indramayu Regency Judo Dojo.

The support from his family and friends at school further motivates him. “I want to give my best for Indramayu,” Gilang stated enthusiastically.

Gilang not only trains technically, but also pays attention to his physical and mental aspects. He follows a healthy diet and regularly engages in additional physical training. Several close friends also frequently train with him to support each other. “We always motivate each other to be better,” said one of Gilang’s friends.

Popda Jabar is a highly prestigious event for students in West Java province, where athletes from various regions compete. Gilang hopes to achieve the best possible results and bring home a medal for Indramayu. “I’m determined to fight hard there,” he added.

Besides training, Gilang also remains focused on his education. He tries to balance his time between training and studying. His teachers are fully supportive, ensuring that Gilang can juggle both. “Education remains my priority,” he emphasized.

In this event, Gilang will compete against the best judo athletes from across West Java. He has prepared thoroughly, both physically and mentally. “I’m confident, but I’ll keep trying,” he said.

Gilang also expressed his gratitude to everyone who has supported him, including his coaches, family, and friends. “Without their support, I wouldn’t have reached this point,” he said gratefully.

After Popda, Gilang plans to continue training and improving his skills as a judo athlete. He aspires to compete at the national and even international levels in the future. “This is just the beginning of my journey,” he concluded optimistically.
