Building a New Spirit for Indramayu Community Learning Centers: Bunda Emil’s Role Through Data Revitalization and Local Wisdom

INDRAMAYU-JAYA NEWS COM – A beaming smile appeared on the face of Hj. Emilia Kusnandar, S.Pd., MM, familiarly known as Bunda Emil. The Head of the Early Childhood Education and Non-Formal Education Division of the Indramayu Regency Education and Culture Office recently took an important step in her leadership journey. She participated in the Third Batch of the Administrative Leadership Training (PKA) Seminar held by the West Java Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM).

The training took place from May 20 to September 10, 2025, with the seminar’s culmination on September 9, 2025. Taking place at the West Java BPSDM office, Bunda Emil presented her ideas for change in the PKA Organizational Performance Change Action Plan Seminar.

In her report on change actions, Mother Emil titled it: “Optimizing Community Learning Center (PKBM) Capacity through Data Revitalization and Local Wisdom-Based Entrepreneurship at the Indramayu Regency Education and Culture Office.”

“PKBM is a community learning space. There, local potential can grow, as long as we can manage it well. Therefore, I want to present innovations based on accurate data and empower entrepreneurship based on our own local wisdom,” said Mother Emil.

Throughout the process, Mother Emil received direction and guidance from her mentor, Dr. H. Caridin, S.Pd., M.Si., Head of the Indramayu Regency Education Office. She also received intensive mentoring from her coach, Ruly Trilenggono, ST., MT. The examiner who assessed her ideas and actions was Dra. Reni Ambar Sari, MM.

One concrete step Mother Emil has implemented is the development of a module on “Local Wisdom-Based Entrepreneurship.” This module is not just for one institution, but will be distributed free of charge to all Community Learning Centers (PKBM) throughout Indramayu Regency. The hope is that students at PKBM will have skills appropriate to their region’s potential, enabling them to create and empower themselves.

These changes don’t stop on paper. In the next six months, an examiner from the Human Resources Development Agency (BPSDM), Dra. Reni Ambar Sari, MM, is scheduled to visit Indramayu in person. The visit aims to assess the impact of these changes on PKBM.

“God willing, I will also bring this program to PKBM Al-Zaitun, and all PKBM will be invited. We will organize joint activities, competitions, and a bazaar. This won’t just be entertainment, but a platform to showcase the real work of our students,” she added enthusiastically.

Mother Emil’s move proves that non-formal education is not a secondary option, but rather a space rich in innovation for developing independent communities. With a more organized data revitalization and an entrepreneurial spirit based on local wisdom, Indramayu is preparing a more resilient and competitive generation of learners.**
