33rd Baliem Valley Cultural Festival 2025

WAMENA-JAYA NEWS.COM – Wamena City, better known as the Baliem Valley, serves as the center of Papua’s largest mountainous region, encompassing five major tribes: the Hubula (known as the Dani), the Lanny, the Yali, the Hubla, and the Ngalik (Nduga) tribes.

In the past, the Baliem Valley people maintained a culture of protecting their territory from other tribes, while simultaneously upholding the dignity and honor of their territory as an ancestral heritage that cannot be transferred to others. If their ancestral rights were violated, they would defend them with their patriotic spirit and sacrifice their lives.

The 33rd Baliem Valley Cultural Festival in 2025, with the theme “Weaving Hearts, Knitting Love, Preserving Your Culture, That’s Your Identity,” featured a theatrical depiction of the Hubula Tribe’s history. The cultural festival took place on Thursday, August 7, 2025.

This culture needs to be explored, then preserved, and maintained in accordance with the customs and traditions that are currently being preserved.**
