A Mortar Used To Make Shrimp Paste at the Tomb of Ki Joko Dolog, Pabean Udik Village, Indramayu

INDRAMAYU-JAYA NEWS.COM – A mortar used to make shrimp paste still lies behind the sacred tomb complex of Ki Joko Dolog in Pabean Udik Village, Indramayu District, Indramayu Regency.

“The mortar has been there for a long time, but we don’t know exactly when,” the complex’s maintenance officer told Jaya-News.com on Thursday, July 31, 2025.

He continued, “Because of the mortar’s weight, we couldn’t move it, even though several adults tried. But the mortar remained unmoved. So it was left outside the complex fence. No one knows exactly when.

“According to previous caretakers, the mortar stone was originally used to produce shrimp paste, made from small shrimp or rebon,” he concluded.

The existence of the mortar stone in the Ki Joko Dolog tomb complex remains a mystery to this day.**
