The government’s efforts to combat forest encroachment in Indonesia have given Agrinas (PT. Agrinas Palma Nusantara) the function and role of law enforcement, social forestry programs, and partnerships with companies engaged in forest encroachment, which are often caused by overlapping permits, limited human resources, and low public awareness.

To address all plantation and forest encroachment issues in Indonesia, Agrinas (PT. Agrinas Palma Nusantara) is working to create synergy between the government, communities, and the private sector in sustainable and equitable forest management.

Agrinas itself is a company mandated and entrusted by the government to play a role in supporting Indonesia’s national food security and sovereignty, primarily through the development of a food estate project established by the Defense Resources Potential Development Foundation (YPPSDP), which is under the auspices of the Ministry of Defense (Kemenhan) of the Republic of Indonesia.

Therefore, the food estate development program is Agrinas’ primary responsibility, encompassing large-scale, integrated agricultural areas from upstream to downstream. This encompasses land acquisition, cultivation of food crops such as rice, corn, and cassava, as well as harvest processing and distribution. One of the food estate development locations required by Agrinas is located in Gunung Mas Regency, Central Kalimantan, covering an area of approximately 33,750 hectares.

To implement this program, Agrinas is collaborating with the Indonesian Army (TNI AD) to implement the national food security program. This collaboration includes utilizing idle land, providing counseling and mentoring to farmers using modern agricultural technologies, and developing agricultural infrastructure such as irrigation and roads for farming.

Agrinas’ authority encompasses the entire agricultural supply chain, from land acquisition, planting, fertilization, maintenance, and harvesting. Even post-harvest processing remains Agrinas’ responsibility, including storage and processing of food products in factories, with guaranteed quality that meets community needs.

In an effort to support agricultural management, Agrinas is also responsible for building infrastructure and facilities integrated from agricultural land to harvest storage, ensuring the efficiency and quality of national food production.

Therefore, Agrinas’ strategic role in food security is significant and is a key pillar for President Prabowo Subianto’s government, ensuring reliable food security and national food sovereignty. It also prepares food logistics reserves for the nation’s well-being in anticipation of a global food crisis. Therefore, the role and function of PT. Agrinas extends beyond addressing the issue of palm oil plantations encroaching on forests, but extends beyond the millions of hectares of palm oil plantations that provide little benefit to the people.**
