MAUNG Dumai and DPD LHMB Hold Audience with GM Pelindo
DUMAI, RIAU-JAYA NEWS COM – The Executive Board of the Non-Governmental Organization Monitoring State and Group Apparatus (DPC LSM MAUNG) together with the United Malay Hulubalang Army (DPD LHMB) of Dumai City held an important audience with the General Manager of PT Pelindo Dumai Branch, Jonathan, along with the management team, on Friday (04/07/2025). The audience, which took place smoothly and conducively, became a space for conveying criticism and constructive suggestions regarding the security and governance conditions in the Pelindo Dumai ferry port area, Riau Province.
The Young Commander of LHMB Dumai, Wan Ade Syahputra, in the meeting appeared firm and critical in highlighting the security situation at the port which he considered concerning. He said that the presence of public transportation agents and conductors waiting for passengers to get off the ferry often acted arrogantly, without ethics, and ignored the norms of politeness that should be upheld in Malay land.
“The image and dignity of Dumai City are damaged by these unethical actions. Dumai is a Malay city, which should be synonymous with politeness and manners. We are ashamed of this, and PT Pelindo must be responsible,” said Wan Ade.
In addition to criticism, Panglima Muda LHMB also provided a number of strategic suggestions, including:
1. Official and transparent registration of transportation agents,
2. Providing official stickers as a sign of legality from Pelindo and Dishub,
3. Creating a port entrance portal with a distinctive Malay nuance and the motto “Di Mana Bumi Dipijak, Di Situ Langit Dijunjung”,
4. Implementing the use of Malay clothing every Friday by transportation agents and conductors,
5. And the construction of official kiosks near the port area to regulate community activities in a more orderly manner.
Meanwhile, the Head of the DPC LSM MAUNG Dumai, Agung Gumilang, S.A.P., also voiced similar concerns. He emphasized that the internal conditions of the port were not only the responsibility of PT Pelindo, but all parties involved.
“We need a total overhaul. PT Pelindo, Dishub, BUMD, KSOP, and transportation agents must have a joint commitment to maintain the dignity of Dumai City. Security must be tightened. If there are security personnel who cannot carry out their duties, we ask that they be suspended,” said Agung.
On that occasion, GM of PT Pelindo Dumai, Jonathan, expressed his appreciation and commitment for the input given. He stated that Pelindo opened a wide space for dialogue and was ready to immediately follow up on the points conveyed in the audience.
“We are grateful for the attention and concern of the DPD LHMB Dumai and the MAUNG Dumai NGO. The criticism and solutions conveyed will be our serious notes. Pelindo is ready to evaluate and execute improvements in stages, in order to make the port the face of Dumai City that is orderly, civilized, and proud,” said Jonathan.
The audience was closed with an agreement that a follow-up meeting would be held involving all relevant stakeholders, in order to formulate concrete steps in the near future. All parties agree that Dumai must be built not only with infrastructure, but also by maintaining the values and dignity of Malay culture that is the identity of this city.**
