Living in a Tent, Heri Sujati Survives Amidst the Ruins of Hope

INDRAMAYU-JAYA-NEWS.COM- Behind the development and progress of the times, there are still heartbreaking stories from remote parts of the country. Heri Sujati, a 10-year-old boy from Ranjeng Village, Losarang District, Indramayu Regency, had to swallow the bitter reality at a very young age.

Heri is an orphan. He now lives only with his grandfather, after their house collapsed and could no longer be inhabited.

Sadly, their current residence is only a tent of assistance from the Ministry of Social Affairs that stands makeshift. There are no solid walls, no proper floors, only tarpaulin and wet soil that bear witness to their struggle for life.

For bathing and defecating, they rely on emergency toilets covered in cloth. The facilities are far from adequate, let alone safe and healthy for a child of Heri’s age.

While other children his age are busy playing, studying, and dreaming, Heri is busy helping his grandfather earn money to survive all this time. His story is a dark portrait that shows that not all Indonesian children have felt the true meaning of independence.

Heri Sujati is not just a number in poverty statistics. He is a real voice screaming from the remote villages, calling our attention. This is a humanitarian call that must not be ignored.

The community hopes that the government and related parties will immediately intervene. Heri deserves a decent place to live, access to good education, and protection as an Indonesian child who has the right to achieve a bright future.

Because behind his small smile, there is a great strength to continue living even though the world seems to have forgotten him.
