The head of the event’s organizing committee, Hasim Ashari, stated that the Indonesian Migrant Workers Union (SBMI) Branch Conference (Muscab) is the highest forum at the district/city level, which elects the branch leaders, establishes work programs, and evaluates the organization’s performance in protecting migrant workers.

“This activity is held regularly to strengthen the organization’s network, advocate for, and empower migrant workers down to the village level. Previously, it was held every four years, but going forward, it will be held every five years for one leadership period,” he said.

Furthermore, Hasim continued, this Muscab also serves as a momentum to strengthen solidarity and fight for the rights of migrant workers, which are often overlooked.

The main issues discussed during the Muscab included improving legal protection for migrant workers, increasing the capacity or skills and training for branch leaders in each division, and conveying the recommendations of the SBMI National Working Meeting.

Meanwhile, the Secretary General of SBMI, Juwarih, who attended the event, also congratulated and expressed her best wishes to the new SBMI Indramayu branch leadership.

“Congratulations and success to Ms. Huki Jaenah on her election as Chair of the Indramayu SBMI Branch Executive Board for the 2026–2031 period. May she be trustworthy and capable of carrying out her organizational duties in accordance with the Articles of Association, Bylaws, Standard Operating Procedures, Guidelines for the Organizational Guidelines, and other organizational policies,” he concluded.

The election was based on a vote by the Indramayu SBMI Branch Executive Board and the SBMI Regional Executive Board (DPD) who were present at the Regional Conference (Muscab), a number of participants deemed sufficient to meet the quorum by the meeting chairperson.

In her remarks, Huki Jaenah expressed her gratitude for the trust placed in her to lead the Indramayu SBMI Branch Executive Board.
