Kicking Off Learning, PKBM Al-Zaytun Determined to Embody LSTEAMS in Building Civilization

By Dr. Ali Aminuloh, M.Pd.I. ME

Saturday, December 20, 2025, marked the beginning of learning at PKBM Al Zaytun. But that morning was more than just the start of academic activities. It was a spiritual event, where learning was grounded in its deepest meaning. As is the established sunnah, learning began with a practical insight delivered by the Head of PKBM, Dr. Ali Aminulloh, M.Pd.I.ME. His words were not preachy, but rather invited learners to reflect: that knowledge should build sound reasoning and foster hope.

The national ritual flowed solemnly. Indonesia Raya (Indonesia Raya) was sung in three stanzas, as if emphasizing that love for one’s country is not merely memorized but must be internalized. The PKBM march ignited enthusiasm, while the PKBM hymn evoked the awareness that education is a collective endeavor to safeguard the future. In that space, a sense of belonging to the nation and humanity grows without the need for shouting.

When the World Greets Al Zaytun

That morning was made more meaningful by the presence of Moh. Najib, a doctoral candidate from Western University Perth, Australia. This student from Demak came not as a ceremonial guest, but as a researcher bringing the world’s eyes to the campus. His interest in Al Zaytun arose from a direct encounter with the reality he discovered: vibrant tolerance, practiced equality, and a nationalism that grew naturally in everyday campus life.

Through his research, Najib wants to convey to the international public that the skewed image of Al Zaytun is not in line with reality. Here, differences do not create distance, but become spaces for dialogue. Love for the country does not stop at symbols, but is manifested in discipline, togetherness, and a learning ethos. This campus, for him, is a living laboratory for how education can weave diversity into strength.

LSTEAMS and the Path to Jannah

The Friday Dhikr message delivered by Sheikh Al Zaytun was revived. Ust. Ali Aminulloh emphasized that the Sheikh emphasized the importance of immediately implementing the LSTEAMS concept at all levels of education, from early childhood education (PAUD) to higher education, including community development groups (PKBM). Al Zaytun’s vision as a center for education and the development of a culture of tolerance and peace demands a holistic approach, namely education that is inseparable from reason, ethics, and conscience.

Referring to Surah Ibrahim, verses 24–25, education is likened to a good tree. Its roots are firmly anchored in values, its trunk stands firm against the times, and its fruit can be harvested throughout time. That root is education, which grows a tolerant and peaceful trunk. From there, the fruits of health, intelligence, and humanity, sustainable prosperity, are born. Tolerance opens up space for interaction with everyone, while peace teaches how to find a common path, not just a single one.

LSTEAM is understood as a way of life, not just a concept. Ethics serves as a compass, science and technology become tools for facilitation, engineering fosters innovation, art beautifies life, mathematics teaches prudence, and spirituality culminates in a consciousness of love. Love for the universe, nation and state, environment, fellow humans, and yourself. From here grows a philosophical awareness that makes every action meaningful, an ecological awareness that views nature as a friend, and a social awareness that sees humans as equals as God’s creatures. The scars of the disasters in North Sumatra, West Sumatra and Aceh are a reflection of how expensive the price must be paid when awareness is ignored.

With greetings, learning officially opened. The closing prayer binds gratitude, good deeds, and hope for Divine protection. At PKBM Al Zaytun, education is not just about pursuing academic achievements. It is a silent journey to plant the roots of consciousness, so that in the future civilization will reap the fruits. The fruit of health, the fruit of intelligence, the fruit of humanity and prosperity. That’s Jannah.**
