Today, December 15th, is Indonesian Army Struggle Day, a lasting reminder of the courage and determination of the fighters led by Lieutenant Colonel Soedirman in the Battle of Ambarawa in 1945. This commemoration reaffirms the philosophy of Struggle and Sacrifice that is the foundation of national sovereignty.
This heroic spirit is now reinforced by the theme of the 2025 TNI AD commemoration: “The TNI AD is United with the People for a United, Sovereign, Prosperous, and Advanced Indonesia.” This theme emphasizes that unity is the key to realizing national ideals. While unity was once manifested in the battlefield, now it must be realized in the battlefield of development, particularly in the most fundamental area: education.

The Nation’s New Battlefield: Fighting Educational Inequality

The nation’s current challenges are not merely physical threats, but rather educational inequality. This problem is hindering the realization of a prosperous and progressive Indonesia that is equitable. People in remote areas, who also face disasters and hardships (like our brothers and sisters in North Sumatra, Padang, and Aceh), must not be excluded from access to modern, quality education.

This is where the Kartika Fighting Spirit finds its revolutionary manifestation. If heroes sacrificed their lives for territorial sovereignty, now we are required to fight hard for human resource sovereignty through educational transformation.

Reflection on Social Justice Through LSTEAMS

This fighting spirit is reflected in the vision of building sustainable modern education. This was initiated through ongoing training of Al Zaytun students, which aims to revolutionize boarding school education to modern 21st-century standards, in line with the vision of Indonesia’s 100th anniversary of Independence.

This futuristic education model is based on the LSTEAMS (Law, Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics, and Spiritual) framework.
1. L-S (Law and Spiritual): Providing a solid moral and legal foundation, ensuring the next generation possesses high integrity.
2. S-T-E-A-M (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Mathematics): Arming them with scientific and technological excellence to compete and become driving forces of global civilization.

With a strong integration of science and spirituality, this model ensures that our educational output is not only intelligent but also character-based.

Strategic Maneuver: 500 Education Centers

The ambitious goal of establishing education centers in 500 cities across Indonesia, initiated and proposed by Sheikh Al Zaytun, A.S. Panji Gumilang, is the most concrete reflection of the determination to achieve social justice. This is a strategic maneuver in the education sector that echoes the spirit of “One with the People.”

This step is key to achieving the ideals of Unity, Sovereignty, Prosperity, and Progress in a measurable way. By ensuring equal access to quality education in every corner of the country, we ensure that:
1. Prosperity is not limited to large cities.
2. Progress occurs equally, from Sabang to Merauke.

Juang Kartika Day teaches us that to achieve happiness and prosperity, we need a relentless struggle and sacrifice for the greater good.
By aligning the spirit of Juang Kartika of the Indonesian Army with the struggle for equal education based on LSTEAMS in 500 cities, we not only honor past heroes but also ensure that Social Justice for All Indonesians will become a measurable reality that can be enjoyed by all.
This is the true Juang Kartika of the 21st century: fighting for equitable education for a Prosperous and Advanced Indonesia.***
