JAKARTA-JAYA NEWS.COM – Several academics, researchers, and student activists gathered for a Gen Z-style Political Discussion with the theme “Questioning Asta Cita Policy Direction & Student Participation in Sustainable Development.”

The event, held on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, at Se. Kopi, South Jakarta, provided a dialogue space for the younger generation to understand the direction of national policy while strengthening the role of students in the development process.

The event was opened by Ahmad Sarifah, SH, the Center Coordinator, who emphasized the importance of political literacy for students amidst the dynamics of changing government policies. In his remarks, he stated that Gen Z has a significant opportunity to become the driving force behind monitoring and controlling the direction of national development.

“Today’s young generation are not merely spectators in the political arena. They are the owners of the nation’s future. Therefore, understanding Asta Cita and the entire government policy agenda is key to students’ critical and constructive participation,” said Ahmad Sarifah in his remarks.

Following the opening remarks, the presentation session began with three speakers from diverse backgrounds.

The first speaker, Prof. Dr. Mufti Makaarim A., a consultant at Marapi Consulting & Advisory, discussed the objective conditions of the Asta Cita policy and its implications for national development. The next session was continued by Dr. Abdul Jamil Wahab, M.Sc., a researcher from the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN). He discussed the role of research and innovation in sustainable development, particularly in ensuring that the Asta Cita agenda is based on data and community needs. He stated that students have ample opportunity to engage in policy research that has a direct impact on the public.

The third speaker, Gus Azhar Bahfie, S.Pd., M.Pd., Chair of the Jakarta chapter of the Indonesian Student Association (PMP), highlighted the importance of student activism and the role of youth organizations in maintaining the spirit of nationalism in the digital age. He emphasized that student involvement should not stop at criticism, but must be realized through concrete actions and cross-community collaboration.

In the closing section, Salsabila Ismanita, Chair of the Student Council of the Jakarta Institute of Al-Quranic Sciences, also provided feedback as a student panelist. She highlighted the need for greater dialogue for students to express their views on state policies.
