Polindra Student Wins First Place in International Karate Competition, Wins Gold Medal
INDRAMAYU-JAYA NEWS.COM – Indramayu State Polytechnic (Polindra) sent nine athletes to the international competition held by Sebelas Maret University (UNS) in Surakarta, Solo.
Mas’ud Toha, one of the students who participated in the international competition, won first place and a gold medal.
Mas’ud Toha told the media on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, “Alhamdulillah (Praise be to God), I am very happy and proud to have participated in the international karate competition held by Sebelas Maret University (UNS) in Surakarta, Solo. I won first place and won a gold medal in this international event.
I hope this will motivate my friends to continue studying diligently, not only focusing on academics but also exploring their potential in non-academic activities in student activity units (UKM) to achieve success in sports.
“Because I’m motivated by myself, winning first place will result in a reward from the university, including waiving tuition fees for a year,” he said.
So, it really motivates me personally to continue studying and practicing, so I can achieve success not only in academics.
“Because of my experience in the first semester, I won first place in a national karate competition organized by UNISKA.
The university gave me waived tuition fees for a year, which really helped ease my parents’ financial burden. I hope this also motivates other students to achieve success,” said a third-semester student in the Engineering Department of Instrumentation and Control Technology, Polindra.
He hopes that Polindra Karate can develop in terms of facilities and individuals. “I want Polindra Karate to become a student-run unit (UKM) so it can stand on its own two feet.”
Meanwhile, Azril Sya’ban Aditiyana, another student from the New Study Program at Indramayu State Polytechnic, a first-semester D4 Applied Bachelor’s Degree (Electrical Medical Engineering Technology) student, added that he was very grateful to have won a gold medal by winning first place in the international karate competition held by Sebelas Maret University (USM) Solo.
Azril added that he offered tips and tricks to his fellow students to truly study and practice diligently, as the process of learning and practicing diligently will not betray the results.
He advised his fellow students to maintain their enthusiasm for learning.
“Hopefully, by winning first place in the international karate competition, I can make my parents proud and contribute to the good name of my university, so that Polindra can compete with other universities. I would like to thank my coaches, lecturers, and friends for their support and encouragement,” said Azril.
Meanwhile, Muhamad Jupri, a Karate Coach from the Indramayu State Polytechnic, explained to the media that, “Alhamdulillah, nine students participated in the international karate competition organized by Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta Solo, from various departments and study programs at Polindra, and many won first place and gold medals.”
“Athletes from the Indramayu State Polytechnic won six gold medals, which is certainly a source of pride for the Indramayu State Polytechnic,” he said.
We hope that the students who have achieved first place will maintain their achievements and continue to improve, as karate competitions are held annually, whether at the international, national, or local levels.”
He advised other high-achieving students to maintain their achievements in their fields.
Jupri also encouraged students interested in joining us in karate to register for weekly training sessions on Tuesdays and Friday afternoons at the Indramayu State Polytechnic campus.**
