Prof. Dr. Sutan Nasomal Hopes Indonesian President Will Order Ministers to Revive the Economy and Eliminate School Dropout Rates
JAKARTA-JAYA NEWS.COM – The number of children dropping out of school in various regions across Indonesia is increasing year after year. This is all due to the increasingly sluggish economy, which is lacking momentum. The increasingly unstable economy has resulted in increasing unemployment, many companies have closed, job openings are limited, unemployment is increasing, many children are dropping out of school to help their parents with business, etc. As a result, many schools have fewer students because school-age children choose to drop out.
Prof. Dr. KH. Sutan Nasomal, an international law expert and economist, explained this while answering questions from editors-in-chief of both print and online publications at his office at the headquarters of the opposition Merdeka Party in Jakarta, Tuesday (10/21/2025).
Indonesian President Hopes to Order His Staff to Address School Dropout Due to the Impact of the Economic Sluggishness.
A major evaluation is needed to determine whether regional heads can effectively implement their work in a way that reaches the grassroots.
The issue of school dropouts is currently a major concern for PROF. DR. KH. SUTAN NASOMAL SH, MH, due to public complaints about children dropping out of school due to their parents’ declining incomes and difficulty finding money.
The sluggish economy has forced people into debt to survive. It is estimated that 40% of married families currently have debt.
Many families have even ended in divorce due to the inability to support their families. Children’s rights to educational support are being neglected.
“The rising cost of living, driven by the difficulty of finding money or employment, is a testament to the failure of regional heads to address the current situation.
The failure of the government 10 years ago has eroded the community’s small business system,” he said.
He continued, “Children choose not to go to school because they have to struggle for a plate of rice with tempeh and crackers. Earning small change has become a daily routine for these dropouts so they can share with their younger siblings.”
Prof. Dr. KH. Sutan Nasomal urged regional heads not to be busy with ceremonial speeches every day.
The eyes of all Indonesian citizens are on whether they can fulfill their duties.
Narrowing the gap of ignorance caused by children dropping out of school should not be considered a crucial project. Officials in this country are funded by the sweat and blood of the people.
“The role of the President of the Republic of Indonesia in boosting the economic strength of the wider community is currently a powerful formula that demonstrates that there is still hope for the people in the hands of leaders under the President of the Republic of Indonesia.
If millions of children drop out of school because regional heads are incapable of performing well, why maintain them?” he concluded.**
