Clinical Pastoral Education Participants Visit National Heroes’ Graves

JOMBANG-JAYA NEWS.COM – Eleven participants of the Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) program visited the graves of Indonesia’s first president, Ir. Soekarno, in Blitar and fourth president, KH. Abdurrahman Wahid, in Jombang on October 17 and 19, 2025.

The visit was part of a training program held at Mojowarno Christian Hospital.

The training program, running from September 22 to November 28, 2025, is a collaboration between United Evangelical Mission (UEM), a German-based institution, and churches and hospitals in Indonesia. Participants consist of pastors, deacons, and healthcare workers.

Clinical Pastoral Education is an educational and training program designed to enhance skills and competencies in pastoral care. The program is typically attended by aspiring pastors, ministers, or other pastoral workers.

Rev. Dr. Nursini Sihombing, CPE supervisor, explained that the visit aimed to reflect on the values of sacrifice, courage, and patriotism of the national heroes.

“This visit aims to develop empathy, introduce spiritual values, and provide inspiration and motivation for the development of pastoral ministry,” she said.

Christin, a participant from North Sumatra, said the visit provided a valuable experience.

“It was very interesting and broadened my perspective on important values in life and ministry, especially the spiritual and moral values that became the foundation for national heroes in their struggle for the nation and country,” she said.

In addition to visiting the heroes’ graves, the CPE program includes visits to churches and congregations. Participants also provide spiritual care to hospitalized patients across ethnic, religious, racial, and social backgrounds.**
