Only with Good Attitudes and Characteristics, and Sincere Dedication, Can the Nation Be Improved

The ethics, morals, and character of the Indonesian people are the key to repairing the various defects in the nation and state, ensuring a good and righteous Indonesia. These include economic ethics, political ethics, legal ethics, cultural ethics, and religious ethics, all of which must be addressed to prevent conflict.

Ethics in friendships and in society must be maintained to maintain the continuity of friendship bonds, which can then be developed into bonds of brotherhood. Therefore, it’s no surprise that many families are able to foster relationships that extend beyond their own bloodline. This can even be fostered from different ethnic and cultural backgrounds, even those unrelated by the same bloodline.

Conversely, some families, often from the same bloodline—siblings or siblings—feel distant, separated by barriers that allow distance to separate them. Typically, this rift in kinship stems from the perceived burden of the bond, as one believes it will be undermined by the other.

Conversely, even when a friendship has become so close and intimate, when economic conditions change, or due to the success of a business venture, the bonds of brotherhood change, to the point that the bonds of friendship also become strained. This is not only due to increased activity, but also due to the potential for fear of becoming a burden that could hinder the development of a career or reputation that was hoped to be further enhanced and smoothly achieved, even though the bonds of friendship or brotherhood that were previously established are often challenged.

It is at this stage that the consistency and loyalty to the commitments of a well-established friendship or brotherhood are tested through loyalty and sincerity, reflecting a good, steadfast, and consistent personality.

Because there are still people who remain loyal to their commitments and all the consequences of a true, sincere, and sincere friendship or brotherhood, in joy and sorrow, can continue to be maintained. This is despite changes in social or economic status that have altered the circumstances and situations of those involved.

This is the basis of ethics, which is essential for everyone to maintain morality in order to develop noble character as a sane human being, in the sense of a complete and stable psycho-social being—not torn apart by time, separated by changing beliefs and situations that are constantly shifting and changing.

This change in attitude is indeed highly dependent on how one maintains ethics, morals, and character, which can be significantly influenced by educational background, religion, and innate character. Furthermore, resilience and steadfastness in understanding and embracing sacred spiritual values will also significantly influence how one’s perspectives, attitudes, and character continue to develop for the better, or vice versa. This is because social status, brought about by an increase in wealth or power, will significantly influence whether a person’s attitudes and character will change, or even become more admirable, serving as an example or role model of a praiseworthy personality.

In this context, learning about good character, which can lead to building self-discipline within the framework of ethics, morals, and noble character, is essential. Thus, a humble attitude and character can provide many benefits to others. At least to motivate anyone who has had the chance to socialize with such a commendable and noble figure. Meaning, from a good environment, goodness will inevitably grow. And vice versa. Therefore, to repair the various forms of damage in this country, it must begin with good people and those with good attitudes and behaviors, who refuse to exploit opportunities for their own, their families’, or their own groups’ interests, without regard for the interests and rights of the general public.

So, do we really still have stakeholders in our country who possess such noble qualities and attitudes? Perhaps this is why we must not be careless in continuously reminding, reprimanding, or even launching very harsh and risky criticism, never shrinking or being afraid. Because the truth must be spoken with honesty and sincerity, wholeheartedly, to face the logical consequences of being believed or hated.*
