PASIR PANGARAYAN-JAYA NEWS COM – Inmates at the Pasir Pangarayan Class IIB Penitentiary (Lapas) continue to demonstrate their commitment to supporting government programs by maintaining corn plantations in the Pasir Pangarayan Prison garden on Wednesday (September 10, 2025).

This activity follows up on the President of Indonesia’s Asta Cita (Asta Cita) to strengthen national food security and aligns with the 13 acceleration programs of the Minister of Immigration and Corrections, the order of the Director General of Corrections (Dirjenpas), and the guidance of the Head of the Riau Regional Office of the Directorate General of Corrections.

The Head of Pasir Pangarayan Class IIB Prison, Efendi Parlindungan Purba, through the Head of the Education and Training Section, Sunu Istiqomah Danu, stated that the corn field maintenance activities carried out by inmates not only aim to support food security but also serve as a positive development platform that provides skills for inmates.

“Through this corn field maintenance program, inmates can learn, work, and contribute to the national food security program. This is also part of our productive development efforts so that upon their release they will have useful knowledge and skills,” said Sunu.

Corn field maintenance is carried out routinely by inmates under the supervision of officers. In addition to supporting food security, this activity also strengthens the values of cooperation, discipline, and responsibility.

Through this program, Pasir Pangarayan Prison hopes to continue to be part of the solution, both in achieving national food security and in providing meaningful development for inmates.**
