In Commemoration of World Mangrove Day: Environmental Conservation and Community Empowerment Efforts
INDRAMAYU-JAYA NEWS.COM – To commemorate World Mangrove Day, the TERA Mangrove Center of Indramayu Regency, West Java, in collaboration with PT Arunika Bumi Lestari and the Mangrove Jaya Mandiri Farmers Group, held a mangrove planting activity on the coast of the Tegur Block, Pabean Ilir Village, Pasekan District, Indramayu Regency, West Java, on Saturday, August 2, 2025.
This activity aims to preserve the environment and empower the local community.
The mangrove planting activity was attended by PT Arunika Bumi Lestari, TERA Mangrove Center of Indramayu Regency, West Java, the Head of Pabean Ilir Village, the Mangrove Jaya Mandiri Farmers Group, environmental activists, and students. They worked together to plant 3,000 mangrove seedlings in a designated area. This activity is expected to help mitigate the impacts of climate change, protect the coast from erosion, and maintain the natural ecosystem.
Iwan, a representative from the TERA Mangrove Center, stated in his remarks that mangroves have many benefits, including protecting the coast from erosion, helping to mitigate the impact of ocean waves, and protecting the coast from erosion.
“Mangroves increase biodiversity, and they provide habitat for various species of animals and plants. Mangroves can also help improve water quality by absorbing pollutants and nutrients,” he said.
On another occasion, Hj. Sondari, the Village Head (Kuwu) of Pabean Ilir, stated that
this mangrove planting activity also aims to empower the local community.
“By involving the community in environmental conservation activities, it is hoped that they will become more concerned and responsible for the environment,” she said.
Sintya, a representative of PT Arunika Bumi Lestari, added that
this mangrove planting activity is a concrete example of environmental conservation and community empowerment efforts.
