MAUNG NGO Condemns Illegal Liquor Ship Case from Malaysia

DUMAI, RIAU-JAYA NEWS.COM – Allegations of condoning the circulation of illegal liquor have surfaced in Dumai City. Recently, the public has been uneasy about the rampant circulation of liquor, which is strongly suspected to originate from Malaysia and enter the city without official permits via sea routes. One recent report reported the arrest of a ship carrying illegal liquor, but the case was not processed according to applicable law.

In response, Agung Gumilang, Head of the DPC (Monitor of State Apparatus and Groups) NGO MAUNG DUMAI, issued a firm statement.

“We strongly suspect collusion between Customs officials and those seeking to bury this case by paying for everything. The fact that a ship carrying illegal liquor from Malaysia was not properly processed is a clear example of negligence that undermines law enforcement in this country. The MAUNG DUMAI NGO strongly condemns this action and calls on law enforcement officials to act objectively, transparently, and professionally. The country must not be defeated by something like this!” Agung asserted on Thursday, July 17, 2025.

The MAUNG DUMAI NGO has also coordinated directly with the Regional Leadership Council (DPD) of the MAUNG NGO in Riau Province to jointly follow up on this case seriously.

The Chairman of the MAUNG NGO DPD in Riau Province, Wan Ade Syahputra, expressed his full support for the MAUNG NGO DPC in Dumai in overseeing this case.

“At the provincial level, we fully support the actions of Chairman Agung and the MAUNG NGO in Dumai. No violation of the law should be tolerated, especially if it concerns the security and future of the younger generation. If it is true that officials are involved, we will not hesitate to officially report it to the relevant authorities. The MAUNG NGOs in Riau Province and Dumai City will work together to address this issue to its roots,” Wan Ade emphasized.

The MAUNG NGO is committed to being at the forefront of safeguarding the integrity of state officials and promoting fair and intervention-free law enforcement. They request that this incident not be taken lightly and that an audit and open investigation be conducted immediately against any parties suspected of involvement.***
