Head of the Indramayu Legal Aid Institute (LBH) PC GP Ansor Urges Government to Act Quickly in Addressing Wanguk Market Controversy
INDRAMAYU-JAYA NEWS.COM — The Head of the Indramayu Regency Legal Aid Institute (LBH) PC GP Ansor, Miftah Hariri, S.H., M.H., spoke out regarding the controversy surrounding Wanguk Market. He believes the recent situation requires swift and decisive action from the Village Government, Regency Government, and the Indramayu Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD)* to prevent social unrest.
“We ask all parties, especially the Village Government and Indramayu Regency Government, to immediately sit down together to find a just and humane solution. We must not let the common people, especially market vendors, become victims of disharmonious policies,” said Miftah Hariri in his statement on Friday (10/10/2025).
According to him, market evictions or relocations should be carried out with legal, social, and humanitarian considerations in mind. He emphasized the importance of open dialogue between the government and traders to prevent policy-making from causing tension and loss of livelihoods.
“Legal action must be accompanied by a social approach. We must not allow the common people to lose their right to life due to the government’s unpreparedness in policymaking,” he added.
Furthermore, Miftah also encouraged the police to act humanely and professionally in dealing with public protests.
“We believe the police are committed to maintaining security and order, but repressive action is not the solution. A dialogue and humane approach must be prioritized,” he stressed.
Miftah continued, saying that the LBH PC GP Ansor Indramayu is ready to act as a legal mediator between the community and the government if needed. He emphasized that its primary goal is to maintain social justice and ensure the protection of community rights.
“LBH GP Ansor will continue to stand with the oppressed community, while prioritizing the principles of law and justice,” Miftah Hariri concluded.**
