1. 242 BC – 1365 AD
Ancient Banjar civilization as subjects of the Tanjung Puri kingdom
2. 1365 – 1380 AD
Ancient Banjar civilization as subjects of the Kuripan kingdom
3. 1380 – 1448 AD
Ancient Banjar civilization as subjects of the Nagara Dipa kingdom
4. 1448 – 1526 AD
Ancient Banjar civilization as subjects of the Nagara Daha kingdom
5. 1526 – 1905
Since 1526, ancient Banjar split into two:
-Modern Banjar (Islamic) as subjects of the Sultanate Banjar
-The Meratus Dayak, those who were reluctant to abandon their traditional customs and beliefs, refused to convert to Islam like their fellow tribesmen. Therefore, they separated themselves and lived a nomadic life in the hills, practicing shifting cultivation. They were once called “hill people,” but in the 2000s, they were included as a Dayak sub-tribe, the Meratus Dayak.**
