Heated Issue of Resignation, AN’s Lawyer: If Necessary, I’ll Sue!

INDRAMAYU-JAYA NEWS.COM – AN’s lawyer, Ruslandi, S.H., emphasized his openness and full respect for all legal and ethical mechanisms currently underway within the Regional People’s Representative Council (DPRD), including the steps taken by the Ethics Council (BK).

According to him, the council has constitutional functions and mechanisms that deserve to be upheld by all parties. “The DPRD carries out its functions, including the Ethics Council, so let it be. Everyone is given the opportunity to be heard, and whatever the Ethics Council concludes, we will respect it,” he told (link unavailable) on Saturday, October 18, 2025.

Ruslandi added that if there is a legal process outside of the DPRD’s political mechanisms, his office is ready to face it. “If there is a process outside of that, a legal process, we will respect it. And I am ready to face it. If necessary, I will even sue back,” he asserted.

Regarding the complaint filed by the complainant with the DPRD, Ruslandi considered the move to be odd from a domestic ethics standpoint. He stated that personal matters should not be brought to the institution where one’s spouse works. “Things that should be kept private within the household are instead brought to the realm of the institution where one’s spouse works. This is a bit odd,” he said.

However, he acknowledged that procedurally, the complainant’s letter to the DPRD Speaker was legally valid. “Any citizen or community group may write to the DPRD to convey anything, including in this case the complaint from Mrs. AN’s partner,” he explained.

However, Ruslandi considered it inappropriate to direct the complaint to the Ethics Council, considering the substance of the issue concerns personal matters. “It’s not the wrong place, but it’s just inappropriate to submit it to the Ethics Council because this concerns a domestic matter,” he emphasized.

Responding to reports of pressure for AN to resign from her position as a council member, Ruslandi considered it excessive if it were solely motivated by domestic issues. “I heard from the media that the demand is for him to resign. They’ve known each other for a while, even as a couple. Even if they end up exes, they should still pray for their careers to skyrocket, not be brought down,” he said.

He also alluded to the possibility of political motives behind the complaint. “If there’s already a demand for his resignation, the direction is starting to become clear. It’s impossible for someone to resign simply because of political pressure. Speaking of ethics, even corruptors find it difficult to resign, even under pressure from many parties,” he concluded.

Ruslandi revealed that the legal report currently circulating is only at the clarification stage and has not yet entered the investigation stage. “The legal process is also only at the clarification stage. I have the police report and the interview minutes. It’s only natural that when receiving a public complaint, anyone involved will be prosecuted,” he explained.

Regarding the evidence presented by the complainant, he emphasized the importance of objective review. “Of course, if someone files a complaint, there’s evidence. We’ll examine that evidence to see if it aligns with the incident, where it leads, and how relevant it is. If it falls within the legal realm, of course, investigators will review the evidence,” he added.

According to him, if the evidence is submitted to the DPRD’s Audit Board (BK DPRD), that institution has full authority to assess its relevance. “It’s perfectly legitimate for people to submit evidence for their complaints. The BK will then assess whether the evidence is relevant or not,” he said.

Therefore, Ruslandi emphasized that his office will respect all ongoing legal and political processes. However, if any parties are deemed to be harming or defaming his client, he will not remain silent. “Especially as legal professionals. Everything must be based on facts, not emotions. If emotions are used, our entire legal system will be damaged,” he concluded.**
