The Caretaker and Ustadz of As-Sakienah Islamic Boarding School Conduct a Comparative Study at the S16 Library, Encouraging Students Reading Interest
INDRAMAYU-JAYA NEWS.COM – In an effort to strengthen the culture of literacy within the Islamic boarding school, the Caretaker and Ustadz of the As-Sakienah Tugu Sliyeg Islamic Boarding School in Indramayu conducted a comparative study at the S16 Library in Indramayu on Sunday (September 21, 2025). The visit aimed to learn about the library’s development process and to establish a partnership with the Community Literacy Volunteers (Relima) of the National Library of Indonesia, Lokus Indramayu, represented by Ahmad Khoeri, M.Pd.
The Caretaker of As-Sakienah Islamic Boarding School, Nyai Hj. Dra. Eti Rusyeti Aminah, emphasized the importance of fostering a reading culture among students. “The reading interest of students in Islamic boarding schools really needs to be increased to improve their literacy awareness and broaden their horizons. We want to emulate the positive steps taken by the S16 Library in building a literacy ecosystem,” said Nyai Eti.
On the same occasion, Ustadz Tori, A.Md., expressed his appreciation for the work of the S16 Library and Relima Indramayu. “We really appreciate all the programs the S16 Library and Relima Indramayu have implemented to build a literacy ecosystem. This is an inspiration for us to implement in Islamic boarding schools,” he said.
Meanwhile, Siti Aliyah, S.Pd., the S16 Library Administrator and a teacher at MTsN 8 Indramayu, expressed her pride in receiving a visit from a major Islamic boarding school in Indramayu. “We are honored to have been visited by Nyai from the renowned As-Sakienah Islamic boarding school. Hopefully, this collaboration will have a positive impact on improving literacy in Indramayu,” said Siti Aliyah.
As a literacy partner, Ahmad Khoeri, M.Pd. from Relima Indramayu emphasized the importance of cross-institutional synergy. “Stakeholders and all parties striving to improve the nation’s literacy must collaborate and establish strong partnerships to optimize Indramayu’s literacy,” he said.
This visit is expected to be the first step in a strategic partnership between the As-Sakienah Islamic Boarding School, the S16 Library, and Relima National Library of Indonesia to create a more vibrant literacy ecosystem within the Islamic boarding school environment.**
