Greetings Scouts,

Pandu and Pramuka have a history closely linked to the development of the scouting movement in Indonesia.

The term “pandu” was used in the early 20th century to refer to the scouting movement in Indonesia, influenced by the Scout Movement founded by Robert Baden-Powell in England.

In 1961, President Sukarno changed the name of the Scouting Movement in Indonesia to “Pramuka,” an abbreviation of “Praja Muda Karana,” meaning “Young Spirits Who Work.”

This name change aimed to provide a more Indonesian identity and emphasize leadership and community service.

The Scouting Movement in Indonesia aims to develop strong, independent characters and personalities who care about the environment and society. Scouts also have various activities and programs aimed at developing members’ skills and knowledge, such as:

1. *Nature Activities*: Scouts engage in a variety of outdoor activities, such as camping, hiking, and other outdoor sports.

2. *Skills Development*: Scouts have a variety of skills development programs, such as survival skills, first aid, and other skills.

3. *Social Activities*: Scouts also engage in a variety of social activities, such as community service, community service, and other activities.

The history of Scouting in Indonesia can be divided into several periods, namely:

1. *Early Period (1912-1945)*: The Scouting movement in Indonesia began in 1912 with the establishment of the first Scouting organization in Indonesia. During this period, the Scouting movement was influenced by the British Scout Movement.

2. *Independence Period (1945-1961)*: After Indonesian independence, the Scouting movement in Indonesia continued to grow and became part of the nation’s development efforts.

3. *Pramuka Period (1961-present)*: With the name change to Pramuka, this movement continued to grow and become one of the largest and most prominent youth organizations in Indonesia.

Pramuka plays a vital role in shaping the character and personality of Indonesia’s young generation, as well as contributing to community and national development.

Thus, Pramuka can be an effective platform for developing the potential of Indonesia’s young generation.*

Scout Greetings
