GPI Vacated, IWO Indramayu: It’s the Local Government’s Right, Must Be Accepted Wisely
INDRAMAYU-JAYA NEWS.COM – The polemic of vacating the Indramayu Press Building (GPI) has surfaced. Responding to this, the Head of the Regional Management of the Online Journalists Association (PD IWO) of Indramayu Regency, Almak, emphasized that the policy of vacating the GPI building is entirely the right of the Indramayu Regency Government.
“The vacating of the GPI building is the right of the Indramayu Regency Government,” said Almak, Head of IWO Indramayu, Wednesday (06/18/2025), after the management meeting.
Almak explained that the management of the GPI building was initially based on a joint agreement in 2022, where the Indramayu Journalist Communication Forum (FKJI) was appointed as the main manager, especially through the chairman, secretary, and treasurer of FKJI.
“Based on the 2022 agreement, FKJI is the manager. The chairman, secretary, and treasurer of FKJI act as managers of GPI,” he explained.
However, Almak continued, the three elements of FKJI leadership who were responsible for managing GPI have officially resigned ahead of Eid al-Fitr this year. As a result, there is a vacuum in the management structure.
“The agreed GPI manager resigned yesterday, before Eid,” he explained.
The vacuum condition, said Almak, makes the legality of GPI management unclear.
Therefore, the Regional Government’s step to take over and vacate the building is an action that is considered reasonable and administratively valid.
“The legal standing of the GPI management is empty. So, it must be taken over by the Regional Government,” said Almak.
According to him, this Regency Government policy should be responded to wisely by all parties, especially the press in Indramayu.
This step is expected to be the beginning of restructuring the management of public facilities for professional journalistic organizations.
“So now it is the right of the local government to vacate it, so it is reasonable,” he said.
Furthermore, Almak hopes for a follow-up policy from the district government that can provide more appropriate and representative facilities for professional organizations, especially journalists who are members of various official organizations.
“Hopefully with this policy, there will be a new policy that provides better facilities for professional organizations,” he hoped.**
